Congratulations to Leopardlady12id of Lewiston, ID. Last night, Lewiston’s favorite hairdresser won $331 playing CatchUp CoverAll!
Useless Fact
Besides being “Idaho’s Only Seaport“, Lewiston is also the gateway to the beautiful (if, nefariously named) Hells Canyon — the deepest river gorge in North America. Read more about the famous recreational area at their official website…
This weekend Gamesviller Zzz818 of Waco, TX, won $852 playing CatchUp CoverAll at Gamesville!
And she wasn’t alone in her good fortune. When Zzz818 won, four other folks with the same Lucky Ball choice as her each won $25 instant cash: nanee2 of Ruby, MI; blueyes66in of Terre Haute, IN: dummerndirt of Pelzer, SC; and grammy61 of Rock Hill, SC.
Lastly, let’s give a big round of applause for Ociela41 of Shreveport, LA, who won a brand new PlayStation 3 this weekend as part of our GV Rewards Monthly Sweepstakes!
We paid out two big jackpots this week to the proud city of Sacramento, CA, qualifying the “Untamed City” for a new GV record. But do you know which state actually has the most Three-Eyed Bingo winners?
In the last year, we’ve had 30 Three-Eyed Bingo winners. Four states had two lucky winners apiece: New York, Kentucky, Georgia, and Arizona. Texas had three big winners. But the #1 spot belongs to the ol’ sunshine state: Florida had SIX big winners in the last year, for a combined total winnings of $15,693.
Congratulations to Netmcevers of Sacramento, CA, who won $2,838 TODAY playing Magic 21!
Useless Fact
Netmcevers’ hometown of Sacramento, CA, is also home to a Giant Coke Cup (with a giant straw!). Located on the corner of Arena Way and Gateway Park Blvd., this three-story Coke cup can be seen from the street and is illuminated at night. For more (including a picture) check out Roadside America…
Congrats are in order for Briannam25! This daughter of Orting, WA, is a Gold member, so her CoverAll prize automatically doubled from $230 to $460. Well done!
Useless Fact
Pacific chorus frogs from Orting, Washington, invaded Alaska last December, hitchhiking their way into the state on imported Christmas trees. Read more about their trials and tribulations at the Anchorage Daily News…
This weekend Gamesviller Zuookie of Lansing, MI, won $397 playing CatchUp CoverAll at Gamesville!
Normally, this is where we’d celebrate her hometown with a useless fact — and we’ll do that in a second — but I also wanted to give a shout-out to Crickettot, a frequent commenter in the Blog who’s been trying hard to win — and finally hit it in Bingo Zone this weekend (along with 54 other Bingo Zone winners this past Saturday and Sunday).
So congratulations to Zuookie, to Crickettot, and to all this weekend’s winners!
Useless Fact
Zuookie and Crickettot both hail from the fine state of Michigan… which, I admit, is more a Trippy Coincidence than a Useless Fact. BUT did you know that Crickettot’s hometown of Harrison and Zuookie’s hometown of Lansing combine to form Harrison Lansing, a freelance photograper from British Columbia, Canada? Believe it!
Besides being the hometown of one of Gamesville’s most multi-syllabic member names, Bradford, VT, is ALSO the home of entrepreneur James Wilson whose company manufactured America’s first artificial globe in 1799. Learn more about beautiful Bradford, VT, at their official website.
Barbara Gregory had all but given up hope that she’d ever see her digital camera again after her husband Dennis Gregory accidentally dropped it overboard while on a cruise ship in 2008. The couple from Johannesburg, South Africa, was on a quiet trip aboard the QM2 cruise ship from New York to Southampton when their Nikon P90 went tumbling into the sea, which they presumed would never be seen again.
But 16 months later Benito Estevez, a fisherman from Spain, found the camera in his nets with the photos still intact on the memory card. The fisherman decided to use the photos to find the camera’s original owners by posting five pictures of the couple posing on the deck of the ship online. Friends of the couple saw the coverage in Britain and quickly contacted the owners to get in touch with the fisherman. Read the full story at The Telegraph UK…
Congratulations to Gamesviller Burgy66 of Sebring, FL, who won $2,400 TODAY playing Three-Eyed Bingo.
Useless Fact!
Burgy66’s hometown of Sebring, FL, is also the hometown of journeyman major league pitcher Tom “Flash” Gordon. Over his 20-year career Gordon has been with eight MLB teams, starting his career with the Kansas City Royals and was recently a part of the Philadelphia Phillies 2008 World Series team. In 1998 Gordon was named the Rolaids Relief Man of the Year Award given to the top relief pitcher of the regular season and between the 1998 and 1999 seasons set an American League record for most consecutive saves (54). Gordon is a three time All-Star and is still currently the only pitcher in MLB history with 100 wins, saves, and holds. Learn more about Sebring, FL…
Congratulations again to Burgy66 and to all our BIG winners from this weekend!
This week Officer Robert Howard caught a woman driving illegally down the Long Island Expressway in the HOV lane with a suspicious passenger–a female dummy riding shotgun. Fox and Friends aired this clip of Officer Howard explaining what tipped him off to the driver’s clever capper.
