And he’ll work for kibbles and bits!

When it rains…it pours! Technical difficulties… *EDIT: There may be a hiccup!*

Hey everyone,

So I spent a lovely morning wrestling with my local Registry of Motor Vehicles only to find our site going kablooey! When it rains it pours, I guess! We know what happened, fortunately, and are working to prevent that sort of thing from repeating itself. In the meantime I thank you all for your patience and your understanding as we try our best to address the issue and to fix it as quickly and as permanently as possible.

Thanks!

EDIT: Okay, we’re going to try and reboot some of our servers. According to our engineers, you may experience a hiccup but nothing major. But please, if you get booted or something happens, clear your cache and reload the site. And let me know if you experience any additional issues here. THANKS!!

Felixturtle Met Some Really Cool Turtles!

TurtleHospital

As my member name suggests, I LOVE turtles and always want to learn more about them, especially sea turtles. So as I started to wrap up my Florida vacation, I decided to treat myself to a drive down to Marathon, part of the Florida Keys, to visit The Turtle Hospital there.

The facility is modest but staffed by a dedicated team who truly love what they do.  A staff member conducts an interesting tour that explains what they and the doctors do once a sea turtle has been rescued and brought to their facility.

The whole goal of the hospital is rehabilitate an injured turtle and release it back to the ocean.  Depending on the injury, the turtle could remain at the facility for a couple of years.  A few of the turtles we met are permanent residents due to the severity of the trauma they suffered.

The hospital has released over 1200 turtles since opening it’s doors in ’86.

Two big winners over the Thanksgiving holiday on Gamesville!

Written by megadestructo / November 28, 2011 12:10 pm / 38 Comments

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday if you celebrated! I ate entirely too much food and spent exactly the right amount of time with friends and family (you know, before things start getting dicey), so all in all it was a huge success. But for two fellow Gamesvillers it must’ve been even better. Why? Because they won a turkey-load of money!

But wait, there’s more…

If you went out for Black Friday, I hope you made it home safe!

I don’t think I could ever brave those crowds! They can end up being downright dangerous! That and I’m still in some kind of food coma :) Hope everyone who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday had an awesome one!

So, did anyone who did venture out get any good deals?

Also, if you did celebrate Thanksgiving, what as the best dish of the evening? I think mine had to be the stuffing: home made with roasted chestnuts and locally-raised, grass-fed beef sausage. But, then again, the brussel sprouts were excellent. And so was the turkey and gravy itself! Oh man and then there was the pumpkin pie and pumpkin cheesecake…

What are you thankful for?

PeanutsThanksBeing thankful shouldn’t be limited to just one day a year but as life sometimes flies at the speed of light, I would like to use today as an opportunity for all of us to reflect on the many things (great or small) that have have added brightness to our lives.

Gobble-Gobble

Dang it, we’ve hit a snag… *EDIT* We’re back!

But we’re working on it right now to fix it. Sorry everyone – looks like the holidays just are magnets for trouble. I’ll update as soon as I get more info!

EDIT: Just got word that things should be back up-and-running! Record timing! If you’re having problems, be sure to clear your cache first :)

I hope everyone who celebrates has a great Thanksgiving tomorrow! We’ll be out of the office from tomorrow until next Monday here at Gamesville but we’ll make sure to check the site, read and respond to our e-mails, and be around…just in case!

Gogeta1946′s Crazy Chocolate Cake

Written by felixturtle / November 22, 2011 8:51 am / 32 Comments

Gogeta1946Our enthusiastic members have been sharing their favorite recipes with us and I hope everyone has been enjoying them so far. Don’t forget that if we publish your recipe, we add 5,000 GVs to your account – so please send those recipes in!

Today’s delicious recipe comes from Gamesviller Gogeta1946!

Gogeta1946 shares why this recipe is so special, “I believe this recipe is from the Depression Era and is the moistest no-bowl chocolate cake ever!

Personally, I use a little less sugar when making this. Also you can ‘kick this up’ into a mocha chocolate cake by using a cup of strong cold coffee. Or tweak with a touch of cinnamon, some peanut butter chips, or chopped walnuts.

Obviously a very versatile recipe. ENJOY!”
