We have tallied the votes and have a winner for the 2011 Gamesville.com’s Halloween Avatar Costume Contest! With over 250 entries (100 more than last year!), it was very hard to narrow it down to a top 5 for you all to vote on. After giving you 5 days of voting, you have selected your favorite spooky avatar!
Quite the winning weekend we had here at Gamesville: three members totaling over $1,500! That’s awesome!
First we have Need4speed1960 from New Brunswick, Canada with a $200 win in Super Chef this past Saturday (10/29). A far cry from the typical $4 wins there. That same day Jonnaangel3 of Jacksonville, NC hit it big in CatchUp CoverAll to the tune of $822! And last but not least, our $500 Weekly Sweepstakes winner is Suzzyq12 of Elmira, NY who received the good news this Sunday (10/30). Congratulations everyone! With $1,522 in prizes you are guaranteed to get sick from all the Fun-Sized Milky Ways and Snickers bars you can snag.
Time for you to cast your vote for your favorite Halloween Avatar. I must say that narrowing down to just five avatars was incredibly hard for the GV Staff. We all enjoyed the creativity our members have taken in creating their submissions and look forward to similar contests in the near future.

With Halloween only a week away, I’ve been remembering some great memories of Trick or Treating with my family and a few of the cool costumes I sported. As the youngest of four, I certainly know a thing or two about hand-me-down clothes but at Halloween wearing a sibling’s costume from previous years was a right of passage!
In times of disaster, it’s good to know that people are doing their part to help out. On October 5th, the container ship MV Rena ran aground on the Astrolabe Reef, resulting the worst oil spill in New Zealand history. While clean-up is currently underway, these Little Blue Penguins have been adversely affected and to keep them from preening (and ingesting oil), the Kiwi yarn store Skeinz has put out a call for penguin sweaters. Cute but necessary!
Wow, that is over 100 more entries than last year – thanks to everyone who entered. I have also closed the Official Entry thread so hopefully everyone who wanted to participate was able to do so.
I just can’t get over how creative everyone has been in the genesis of their Halloween avatars. The cleverness of design and use of color makes me think that you all should be on Project Runway!
Narrowing down to the Top 5 for next Thursday will be incredibly difficult but we here at GV HQ are up for the challenge! Looking forward to sharing the voting poll with you next Thursday and good luck to all of our entrants.
