The chemical Brilliant Blue G turns lab rats blue in tests
Researchers have discovered that the food dye that gives blue M&Ms their color can help mend spinal injuries. Tests on groups of lab rats concluded that the compound Brilliant Blue G blocks a chemical that kills healthy spinal cord cells around the damaged area. In the tests, rats treated with BBG were later able to walk, although with a limp, and rats that did not receive the BBG solution never regained the ability to walk. On the downside however the treatment caused the skin to temporarily turn bright blue as shown by the photo above. Learn more about this recent discovery at Boing Boing…

This week's Best Pet comes to us from Gamesviller Andra8803 of Mesquite, TX. Meet her sneaky pal, Socks!
Distinguishing Personality Traits
Andra8803 says, "The best word to describe Socks is 'ninja' because he is only seen when he wants to be seen; I was lucky to catch him off guard long enough to get a photo of him. Socks is 14-years-old and is still the most nimble cat around. He can jump onto our six foot tall bookcase with ease, but as you can see he prefers the toilet (as both a chair and water bowl, but not a litter box). He is an indoor cat, but will sometimes slip out the backdoor and immediately jump over the fence and walk into the front door, just to show you he can. He acts too cool for people when the whole family is together, but if he finds you alone in a room he will walk over to you and lay down for a good snuggle."

Last week we told you about lucky Gamesviller Terriiwamoto's BIG WIN of $814 in CatchUp CoverAll. This week we caught up with her to ask a frew questions about her suprise windfall.
What was her moment of victory like? What will she spend her winnings on? Find out below…
Gamesville: Congratulations! What was it like when you realized you won?
I just couldn't believe it when I won! I ran up to my husband's office with my laptop to show him the screen. And the prize amount shocked me even more! I had no idea that it would be a double jackpot since I was a GV Gold Member. It was certainly a very nice surprise!
What will you spend your winnings on?
Funny you should ask, we just paid a $837.00 deductible for a new roof and my win was for $814.00. When he saw the win my husband just laughed and said, 'you just paid for our roof!' Trust me, I will take some of the winnings and do some of my thrift store shopping as well.
What do you do for a living?
I am a Pediatric Registered Nurse. I love working with my kids, they are all little angels. Unlike adults, most of the time you can't rely on verbal communication, only assessment and nursing skills.
If you were stranded on a desert island what (or who) would you bring with you?
Of course I would bring my husband, my daughter and my son.. can I bring my kitties too?
What is your most treasured possession and why?
I treasure my health and the health of my family. Without our health we have nothing.
What does your Gamesville member name mean?
Well it's not very creative. My hubby signed me up and just used my name. So, it means 'just me'.
What game would you like to see Gamesville make next?
Well I am a 'bingo nut' so I love Gamesville just the way it is and I wouldn't change a thing. Keep up the good work and thank you so much for my big win!
Thanks, Terriiwamoto – and congratulations again on your win!

______
Hello Mrs Comfort,
Thanks for the note and for thinking of us regarding your lucrative situation. While I'm sure you're aware that we could put this money to good use here at Gamesville your eagerness and grammatical prowess (or lack thereof) gives us pause.
Considering how you acquired the money, in a fashion that includes a charter plane crash, we're a little cautious with how this could play out in the media. I can see the headlines now, "Gaming Site Does Dirty Deal With Shady Lady" or "Gamesville Caught In Tailspin Of Controversy". I just think this deal might just be one we take a pass on.
Best,
- Oh! Ryan Kelley

A while back we offered up free Poke the Penguin pins to our GV Gold members who wrote us an email and requested a pin. It took a bit to wrangle all the emails and package the pins, however we finally attempted to send out all our pins last week, only to discover they had been returned to GV HQ by the US Post Office this morning (who had an issue with the size of the envelopes we used). While we once again attempt to send the free pins out to our patient members we thought why not open up the offer to anyone else looking to score some free GV swag!
Looking to score your own FREE Poke the Penguin Pin?
To get your free Gamesville Poke the Penguin Pin, send a stamped (postage pre-paid) self-addressed envelope to:
Free Gamesville Penguin Pin Offer
c/o Lycos Inc.
100 5th Ave.
Waltham, MA 02451
Limit one free Gamesville Poke the Penguin pin per self-addressed stamped envelope. Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery. Non-U.S. players please send IRC coupons.

The Standard Grill showcases a floor tiled with US pennies
The Standard Grill at the Standard Hotel in New York has a very unusual floor: it’s made of pennies! The floor of this upscale grill is tiled with thousands of copper pennies. We're thinking of implementing our own similar design here at GV HQ, however our floors would have to be covered in GV Gold! Visit NOTCOT to see more photos of this rich design…

This week's Best Pet comes to us from Gamesviller Rainstorm-13 of Amherst, MA. Meet her cuddly little kitten, William!
Distinguishing Personality Traits
Rainstorm-13 says, "This is William, my furry little buddy. Last September I moved to a new apartment so I inherited him and his sister Buttons from my Mom, whose kind heart has led her to adopt more kittens that I can count. I took in William, who we now call Bill, and his sister who are now about 9-months-old and still the cutest cats ever born. Bill's cutest trait is his love for plastic bottle caps. I moved a dresser the other day to clean under it and found six water bottle caps jammed against the wall, just out of paw's reach."

We decided the best way to deal with all the spammers isn't to just "Send To Trash" but to share in the fun of openly mocking them with you, the GV community! Today we received a curious corespondence regarding designer watches from Jerald…
______
Hello,
All you need to impress your friends and people around you is to have a luxury designer watch. Don’t worry if you think that you can’t afford it, because now you can. We offer you such low prices you won’t believe your eyes. Reply back to this email for more information about how you can dress to impress.
Regards,
Jerald
______
Hey Jerald,
Thanks for the hot tip! You've certainly inspired me to look sharp for the rest of the week here at Gamesville and I may even suggest to the team that we bring back our weekly tradition of Formal Friday. However, I'm not so sure I'm sold on watches being the only way to impress. Wouldn't a Gamesville wall clock work the same way? It worked for Flavor Flav didn't it?
Best,
- Oh! Ryan Kelley

Today we're talking with Minnow5 of Tigard, OR, who won a $130 in quick cash (a DOUBLE JACKPOT) earlier this month playing Quick-Draw Poker!
What three items would this retired librarian take with her to a desert island? And what new games would she like to see here on Gamesville? Read on…
Gamesville: Congratulations! What was it like when you realized you won?
Of course I was very surprised when I won, shocked actually! Everyone was saying 'way to go' and 'congrats'. I had to print out the paperwork and couldn't answer until it printed out. They probably thought I was rude, but then I went back & thanked everyone for their well wishes.
What will you spend your winnings on?
I'm going to take my hubby out to a great dinner. Then I'll buy some treats and toys for our 2 dogs, Bella and Bandit (editor's note: recent winners in our Best Pets feature). Then just spend the rest on whatever comes along.
If you were stranded on a desert island what three items would you bring with you?
My three items would be: a crate of books, a case of fine wine and my laptop!
What do you treasure most in the world?
I treasure my hubby and our two dogs because they bring so much happiness and love to me. I can't imagine being without them.
What does your Gamesville member name mean?
I made up minnow5 in 1996 when Gamesville began. I really have no idea why I chose that name but I've stuck with it ever since!
What game would you like to see Gamesville make next?
I love word games and would like to see some jackpots in the Gamesville word games.
Thanks, Minnow5 – and congratulations once again on your win!
