Written by ohryankelley / December 30, 2009 4:22 pm / Add New Comment

Spam Bag!From time to time we get a lot of weird requests and spam mail in the GV Members Inbox. We decided the best way to deal with all the spammers isn't to just "Send To Trash" but to share in the fun of openly mocking them with you, the GV community! Today we received a terrific opportunity from Mia…

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your website may be easier to locate.  For no cost to you we will analyze your site and your web placement to show you how. Reply today with the best way to contact you and we will give you the free review with no strings.

Sincerely

Hi Mia,

Sorry I couldn't get back to you on the day of this email, is your promotion still going on? We'd love to take advantage of your company's FREE review so we can spread the word about our free online game shows. We're not sure how you're going to do it but we'd love to find out how! It shouldn't be too hard of a task when we have a phrase like "games" in our name.

Thanks,

- Oh! Ryan Kelley

Antagonist25Last month Gamesviller Antagonist25 of Williamsburg, VA, won a $100 jackpot in Super Chef.

Gamesville: Congratulations! What was it like when you realized you won?
I was super excited when I realized I had won Super Chef. My Gamesville friends found me to congratulate me on my big win, which made it really nice.

What will you spend your winnings on?
I'm unemployed right now and my brother is supporting me. His birthday and Christmas are close together so I'll be buying him his gifts as a 'thank you' over the holidays with my winnings.

What songs could you listen to for the rest of your life?

  • The Doors – Light My Fire
  • Rod Stewart – Maggie May
  • Gary Puckett & The Union Gap – Young Girl

What is your favorite month of the year?
My favorite month of the year is April because it's not too hot or too cold.

What adjective would a close friend use to describe you?
A close friend would call me 'funny'.

What does your member name mean?
I like to provoke people into thinking about what my name means, I'll just leave it at that.

Thanks, Antagonist25 – and congratulations again on your win!

Jwckdc15 Brings Home Cash In CatchUp CoverAll

Written by ohryankelley / December 28, 2009 9:50 pm / Add New Comment

CatchUp CoverAll Winner Jwckdc15Congratulations to Gamesviller Jwckdc15 of Redwood, MS, who received a late holiday weekend jackpot $810 jackpot yesterday in CatchUp CoverAll!

Useless Fact!

Jwckdc15's hometown of Redwood, MS, is just north of the city of Vicksburg. Because of the city's location on the Mississippi River, its reputation in the 19th century often rested on the river's steamboat traffic. Between 1881 and 1894, the Anchor Line, a prominent steamboat company on the Mississippi River, operated a steamboat called the City of Vicksburg. In 1876 a Mississippi River flood cut off the large meander flowing past Vicksburg, leaving limited access to the new channel. Learn more about Vicksburg, MS…

Congrats again to Jwckdc15–looking forward to seeing you all in the games this week!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

Best Pet: The Very High Maintenance Cat “Chillin”

Written by ohryankelley / December 24, 2009 9:46 pm / Add New Comment

TerriB325's Chillin! This week's Best Pet comes to us from Gamesviller TerriB325 of Warren, MI. Meet the very relaxed "Chillin"!

Distinguishing Personality Traits

TerriB325 had this to say about her furry friend: "This is my baby, 'Chillin'! He couldn't have been given a more fitting name. He just chills, chills, and chills some more. The only drawbacks to having a full-blooded Persian is that his hair gets everywhere and he is very high maintenance. I usually have to brush him everyday and groom him so that looks like a baby lion. I have never felt closer to an animal than this cat. He is very perceptive thought and knows just when I need some TLC. He is truly the joy of my life."

Want to share photos of your own favorite pet with the Gamesville community?

Send photos to: members@gamesville.com

In addition to your pet's picture, please be sure to include:

  • Your Gamesville member name
  • Your pet's most distinguishing personality trait

If we publish your pet as a "Best Pet," we'll give you 5,000 GV Rewards. Submit your pet today!

New Computer For The HolidaysIf you're lucky enough to score a new computer this holiday season, a) we're jealous! and b) you're about to enter a whole new world of entertainment and information. So we thought we'd share some helpful tips to help maximize your Gamesville experience on your new computer:

  • Because of the size and speed of the games Gamesville is best viewed in a 1024×768 minimum resolution, with a DSL or better network connection.
  • Gamesville uses pop-up windows for essential parts of gameplay, including the game rooms, table selectors and elsewhere. For help with pop-up stopping software see this FAQ.
  • Firewalls protect your computer but can also prevent Java games from loading properly. If you need help configuring your firewall software to allow access to Gamesville, please consult your system administrator or the documentation on your firewall software.
  • Almost all of Gamesville's games are created using the Java programming language, so you can play them in your web browser. For help with Java-related issues, see our Java FAQ.
  • Most Gamesville games use Java; however, a few notable games are powered by Flash, including Magic 21, Super Chef and Quick-Draw Poker. For help with Flash-related issues, see our Flash FAQ.
  • A special note for laptop and netbook users: it is reccomended that your hardware contatin 2 gb of memory to optimize your experience.

Should you run into any problems that are not addressed by the above suggestions please visit the full Gamesville help section or let us know by contacting Gamesville customer service.

Christmas Comes Early For Five Lucky Gamesvillers

Written by ohryankelley / December 23, 2009 8:04 pm / Add New Comment

CatchUp CoverAll Winner Tsmustang2Congratulations to Gamesviller Tsmustang2 of Leitchfield, KY, who received an early Christmas gift to the tune of a $335 jackpot this morning in CatchUp CoverAll! And she wasn't alone, as four other lucky members joined her with their Lucky Ball selections and each took home $25! Congratulations to Gamesvillers Jackpinemom, Bsnell, Abbynormal-bot-brat and Mschardnae1 on their stocking stuffer wins!

Useless Fact!

Tsmustang2's hometown of Leitchfield, KY, was once the source of some world record controversy when in 1955 a local fisherman caught an 11-pound, 15-ounce smallmouth bass, a pound larger than the previous record. However authorities found a document suggesting the fish had been stuffed with three pounds of lead weights to falsify the fisherman's record. The fisherman was stripped of his title, but after a six-month investigation, which even included lie-detector tests, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency found conflicting evidence and said the world record should be reinstated. Congrats again to Tsmustang2 and her Lucky Ball Friends!

What Do Those New Icons On The Winner Pages Mean?

Written by ohryankelley / December 22, 2009 10:21 pm / 4 Comments

Our new Recent Winners Table

Some of you have already noticed a change we've made to our Recent Winners pages with the addition of coin icons to the left of each winner's Gamesville member name. We've created this fun color-coded system to denote whether a winner is a free member or a GV Gold subscriber at the time of their win.

Taking a quick look at the Recent Winners lists you can see while it still pays to go gold and treat yourself to an ad-free gaming environment, it will ultimately not effect your chances of winning a jackpot here on the site.

Giant triangular UFO filmed hovering above Russia

Written by ohryankelley / December 18, 2009 10:07 pm / 13 Comments

Giant triangular UFO filmed hovering above RussiaA mysterious 'UFO' seen in the sky over Moscow this week has sparked speculation that an alien spacecraft is visiting the city. The UFO appeared on December 9th, the same night that a mysterious blue spiral light appeared over Norway that was later attributed to a failed rocket launch from Russia. The fuzzy grey shape was apparently captured on film in at least two separate videos, one filmed during the daytime and another at night, which has lead to the growth of the story.
