It's been awhile since we talked about the new avatar system, so I wanted to give you all an update. We've entered the QA phase for the project, which is great news. Our target launch is the second week of July. In the meantime, here is a preview of just a handful of the avatars you can create easily and quickly with the Gamesville avatar system…

Upon viewing your latest blog regarding the Gamesville Avatars, I notice that there is only 'one African-American' to choose from. Seeing that he also has an 'afro' it appears to come off as an extremely stereotypical thing to do. My question is, will you be creating more varieties in the future other than a single race to choose from?

Thank you for your feedback. Our design team was very conscious of ethnicity during the development of the Gamesville avatar system, and took great care to make sure people from virtually any ethnic background could re-create themselves online in a fun, easy way–and I apologize if the preview image we posted yesterday did not express the different kinds of avatars you can create by mixing and matching various items and colors. We have updated the preview image on this page to (I hope) better demonstrate the wide range of avatars you'll be able to create. As we get closer to launching the new avatar system, we'll post a more detailed walk-thru of how it works, with tips on getting the most enjoyment out of it.

Thank you for the fast reply to my previous comment and I greatly appreciate it. Sorry if I came off arrogant or disorderly, and I look forward to this new stepping stone featureof Gamesville. I am also an African-American. Please don't be so quick to pull "that card". There are TWO African-Americans shown in the picture! Also, probably like any other site…you modify your avatar to suit you. I hope you also noticed that there is more than "just one race" represented. I even see blue, pink, purple, etc. This is supposed to be a site to have fun…so HAVE FUN!

Before making yourself appear to be the idiot you are how about reading "all" the comments that have been discussed in this topic. You'd soon realize that:
1) The "old" picture had one African-American, one Oriental, and the rest were Caucasian.
2) Chris changed the image to what you see now.
Stop retaliating to a comment that is irrelevant to you and "have fun" as you say. The problem has been fixed thanks to Chris and no more should be said regarding that matter.
*Back to whats important*: I will be looking forward to the avatars in these coming weeks Lycos, it's been long overdue.

I wish everyone who used this forum would fill in their "gamesville username" and stop using it as a subject line–that way we could all see who the mudslingers are . . .
This is a place for exchanging information, not for insult. People who post anonymously may say things they wouldn't readily sign their "real" names to . . .

I agree with center_ice_lady. If you are not brave enough to sign your name to insults, then there shouldnt be any. If you can not take any blame for the insults then you shouldnt even be insulting anyone in the first place.

Hi ! I really hope this comes through , Since Ive allways described myself as big,green and hairy I'd like to use the little blue rabbit looking critter as mine ceptin green LOL cant wait to see what i can get thank you. by the way im 48 and likes ta have fun tooo.
