Why are there NO gold member only games? Since we are the ones who pay, you would think they would come up with a game for us to play. Something other than the Gold Chest.
Comment by alabamabelle4 — January 29, 2010 @ 11:35 am
@ alabamabelle4 –
Thanks for your feedback, and for this chance to talk about exclusive Gold games. First, let me give everyone an overview of GV Gold as it currently stands. Then, we’ll talk about the future.
GV Gold is a service at Gamesville that enables you to play your favorite Gamesville games without commercials, banners, or other intrusive ads.
As a member of GV Gold, you also get access to special members-only rooms for each Gamesville game; entry to our Treasure Room where you can win cash or other prizes every day of the year; exclusive items for your Gamesville Avatar; and automatically doubled jackpots in select games.
To date, we’ve focused on those elements of the service because we know they’re important to people.
We have many new game launching this year, and some relaunches of older games. These games will be free to play, and have Gold-only benefits, too. (The all-new Hot Streak Solitaire looks especially great, and we’re going to turn the world of bingo upside down this fall…)
In addition to free games with Gold benefits, we’ll also be launching the first of our Gold-exclusive games this spring.
We received a lot of good feedback in the Gold game survey we ran late last year, and are incorporating that feedback into the games we’re designing now. As we get closer to launch, we’ll talk about this more.
Sincerely,
Chris Cummings

WOW so nice to see a reply from a manager! I hope to see more replies to questions in the future.
Im totally happy with the way gamesville is right now. I think the feature of winning double for a gold member is enough. I filled out the survey too and asked about doubling the winnings for 3 eyed for gold members. I dont understand why that is the only one that is not doubled for us.
I also think that we should get way more gv’s on the treasure chest. I usually only get 100 or 300’s most of the time.
The new layout is very nice. Keep up the good work!!
Comment by alaskanqtpa — January 29, 2010 @ 1:27 pm
Oh my forgot one thing. What about Frantic Fish? LOVE that game but the gv’s are terrible for that game. Can you increase those hehe. I guess Im one of the few that play these games for fun and compete against friends to get gvs for the badges. Winning money from a game is just icing on the cake

Hi alaskanqtpa -
You guys are going to make me spill all my secrets today, aren’t you?
There is good news in 2010 for you and everyone who plays Frantic Fish — more GVs and chat games are just some of the improvements coming to Frantic Fish this year!

Hi Chris I like to new layout also and am happy to hear gamesville has listened to us gold members, about having gold member only games. I think if you did this more people would want to get a membership. However i hope it’s not just card games you;ll be introduccing for us gold members (solitaire, poker) because some of us do not like playing those types of card games. One other comment will BINGO ZONE ever have double jackpots for us members??? The reason i asked this is because it’s going to take me forever to get the $25.00 payout lol. Thanks in advance for listening.

Just a comment about a problem I had with my badge not changing. I recently emailed a question to Gamesville regarding this problem, received an answer the next day, and the badge has been changed! Thanks for the prompt reply and assistance!! Only one more question–why do they not change automatically anymore?

I got a screen that came up while playing Magic 21 saying that malicious software has been found on this site. It also said not to use this website anymore to protect private information. Are hackers getting into peoples info here? I hate not to play here anymore because of an unsafe environment. I know they broke the code on some of the poker game sites. Please look into this and make it safe again. tyvm

Hi doughnut-filler…
That was a pop up trying to make you buy into another spy-ware program. It just takes over your computer. Next time you get that, close your window ASAP. My Spyware program caught it and stopped it. It looks like an official windows program. It is not. I checked it out on the microsoft website. Lots of fake look a likes out there.
I feel this site is very safe and I fully trust Gamesville to look out for us. They have always done a great job at making all games fun and safe.
WTG Gamesville!!!

Has happened to me several times too donut-filler! Is this associated with the ads??? Anyone know?? Thought my spyware was up to date, but this one has got me twice!

Hi darley22 -
No plans at present to offer double prizes in Bingo Zone. But, if we reduced or eliminated the $25 rule and let you claim winnings faster, would you find that appealing?

Hi doughnut-filler -
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It sounds like you’re doing the right thing, running anti-virus software on your computer. But please be advised: Gamesville does not allow spyware. We do allow popup ads at times, but popup ads are not “spyware” — popup ads are a legitimate, accepted form of online advertising practiced here and on virtually every other site online. The integrity of our advertising is very important to us and your computer safety is priority #1.
We will investigate what you’ve reported. If you can provide more detail (a screenshot, or the name/URL of the product being advertised) that would help us find the advertiser faster and see what’s going on. Please provide customer service with those details, so we can expedite the investigation.

I rarely have confrontations in chat, but when I do, it’s usually with people expecting way too much from their Gold membership. They talk about non-gold players like they’re second class citizens–how dare they WIN?
I was playing 3 eyed bingo when the jackpot went and all you heard was “another NON member” . . . “they shouldn’t be allowed to win the big money”. . . “I’m not renewing my membership, let’s hit gamesville in the pocketbook” . . . “they need to make member only games” . . . blah blah blah
Me being the weisenheimer said “why stop there? why not make a separate site just for Gold members” and people actually said “that’s a good idea” !!!!!
From things said in chat, I get the feeling that some Gold members are expecting a whole barrage of new games just for them. I’m happy as a clam just to play with no commercials.
My one beef is that Bingo Zone prizes are too cheap. I remember years ago when it paid $6 and $7 per game. That was great. But I’ve been yapping about that for years to no avail. You guys are still great and I do love the site. Soooooo many wonderful people here!

Comment by center_ice_lady — February 1, 2010 @ 11:17 am
I totally agree with you center ice lady! So many ppl complain about non members winning. Its really annoying. The only thing that gets my goat sometimes is when someone who has been playing here for less than a year wins because there are those of us who have played for YEARS and never won one of the big jp’s. That does get a bit frustrating to me sometimes.
But as far as gold vs. non, come on people. You are only paying a whopping 25.00 a year. Get over it lmao!
I love this site and mostly take it for what it is, a great gaming site that I come to and possibly can win some money, but more importantly I get to chat with friends and just relax. I actually met a lady that only lives 25 min from me and we have met in person and gone out to lunch.
Comment by alaskanqtpa — February 1, 2010 @ 12:18 pm
I agree with you center_ice_lady about bingo zone.
I have suggested to them before that maybe they should do random jp once someone wins. Instead of always starting back at one dollar, mix it up.
Comment by 24_trubl — February 1, 2010 @ 12:37 pm
I agree with you alaska it is annoying that the newer members win more often than people who have been loyal for years , also a random jp would be great instead of starting over @ $1.00 and in other games like 3 eyed bingo always starting @ $100.00 and have to wait several days , I recently posted that it would be nice for gamesville to post regular times instead of military time next to the winners list , it would simplify what time people actually hit it. IE….. 3:00 pm not 2200 etc

LOL military time doesnt bother me my family is military, its the GMT or whatever it is they use that bothers me cause I can never figure out how many hours difference it was for me (if I happen to have not been on when someone won) I do like though that it says on the front page now how many hours ago someone won.
Congrats to you florhermosa! But have you recieved your money yet? I won 10 dollars on super chef and have not got my money yet.
Comment by alaskanqtpa — February 2, 2010 @ 4:06 pm
Hi all – Just to be clear: Gamesville operates on GMT, so all dates and times displayed on Gamesville are in GMT.
GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time and is used as the basis for standard time throughout the world. The reason Gamesville servers are set to GMT (rather than a particular local time) is to ensure accuracy.
To see your local time set in GMT please go to: http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/info/current-time.htm

alaskanqtpa – if you google “Greenwich Mean Time”, I’m sure it will bring back memories of geography class–Big Ben in London and the Prime Meridian. It’s nothing exotic–just a time that is always constant. They don’t make adjustments for Daylight Savings Time.

Alaska, I won $50.00 on Super Chef back in November and No, I have yet to be paid. However, I was sent an email after writing numerous emails, writing on this blog, writing on the Gamesville website, that it would be approximately 45 days.
I’m counting the days before the check is in the mail. When I won being checks once I reached the 25 dollar mark, they came fast. This one is extremely slow.
However, I’m very grateful that I won; I would be more than thrilled when it hits my mailbox.

As the resident Magic 21 guru my prediction for the next win in Magic 21 is sometime after Feb15th. I’ve been graphing the game’s wins, reaching back to the beginning, and while there’s no sure things…certainly not my predictions!…one can make edumacated guesses. My feeling this time is that unless GV’s gone in and made changes to the programming in the current game, that the JP probably won’t go until it reaches at least $3000 this time around and possibly quite a bit more. It won’t max. The JP could even last into March. My last prediction was only off by two days, which isn’t too bad, all things considered. So there you have it…and if the JP goes this afternoon, oh well!

i just wanted to say thank you gamesville. i enjoy your website very much. it gives me a place to play games without all the bad language. the games are easy to play and the people that play here are very nice. i love the challenge of raising my gv points and earning my badges. the money is nice but the challenge of getting 50,000,000 gv points is awesome. i will try for the money sometimes but most of the time i am after my gv points. once i reach my goal of 50,000,000 points then i will concentrate on winning the money.
there is one thing i would like to see gamesville add and that is a bingo straight win . ( straight i mean one bingo anyway) and have two diffrent games, one for just money and one for gv points. you could make the money one nickle bingo or penny bingo. this way everyone would have a better chance at winning.
again i would like to say thank you gamesville for making this gamesite totally amazing. keep up the good work and please keep me informed of everything new that yall have added to gamesville.

Hi Chris:
Something has been on my mind for several days and I thought I would post this.
I met a woman in Quick Draw Poker (my new favorite game) this week. After chatting for a while I said “good luck to ya” and she replied with “thanks but I can’t win here anyway”. [insert emoticon with puzzled look on it's face here]. lol
I immediately asked “well how did you get here if you can’t win” because I thought people who were ineligible were directed to a screen that says “you are ineligible to play this game.” She then mentioned that she lived in Ireland and so I said “well then you’re okay, they’ll pay if you live in the UK”. THEN she says that she lives in Southern Ireland which is not considered part of the UK and that she really isn’t eligible to win. She also mentioned that she contacted customer service and asked about it and thought maybe they would refund her gold membership monies.
Anyway, she was advised that a refund was not possible. That doesn’t sound like the Gamesville that I’ve come to know and love. After all, it seems that the blame should be on you and not on her.
If she lives where she can’t win–why was she able to access the games? And why in the world was she able to access the Gold program? It sounds like maybe Gamesville didn’t have the blocker up for Southern Ireland because Northern Ireland was able to get access.
I remember when Super Chef first started up and that guy from Warsaw, Poland won. I inquired about it and was told that the problem had been fixed and that ineligible players wouldn’t be able to access it anymore.
At any rate, the whole thing seems very unfair to the lady from Southern Ireland. I asked her ‘would you have joined if you knew that you weren’t allowed to win’? and she emphatically said “Heck, no!”
I hope there aren’t too many other people in the same boat. It’s just not right.

Comment by center_ice_lady — February 13, 2010 @ 11:42 am
Hi ice -
Thank you for taking the time to write us. I can understand the confusion about why someone might be allowed to sign up when they may not be eligible to win prizes. Please let me explain.
When our legal team asked us to restrict Gamesville games only to residents of the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, we did so — and cut off game access to everyone outside of those regions.
As you might imagine, that did not sit well with people who came to the site from Australia and other parts of the world. A frequent comment from the affected players was they didn’t care about winning prizes; they care about playing with their friends. So I worked with our legal team and engineers and infrastructure teams to come up with a way that let people from ineligible regions play the games with the caveat that those same players would be ineligible to win prizes.
Note: We do try to make the eligibility requirements clear both before and after members join: For example, every game’s rules page explains the eligibility requirements for winning prizes, and the customer service section on the bottom of every page has a link titled “Can I win prizes where I live?” which links to a page that outlines the eligibility requirements for who can win prizes.
In addition, during the registration process, all new members are asked to review and agree to the LYCOS Terms & Conditions. Included in the LYCOS Terms & Conditions is a section on Gamesville that clearly states (http://info.lycos.com/tos.php#gamesville):
Gamesville games and contests can be played by people worldwide but only residents of the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom are currently eligible to win cash prizes. Consult each game or contest’s official rules for eligibility requirements.
GV Gold (which is a non-refundable service) enables people to play their favorite Gamesville games — like Super Chef, Magic 21, and Frantic Fish — without commercials, banners, or other intrusive ads. Gold members also get access to special members-only rooms for each Gamesville game; exclusive items for your Gamesville Avatar; and other benefits, including different levels of prizes. We don’t prevent people from signing up for Gold for the simple reason that we have no way of knowing which specific attributes of Gold they’re signing up for.
Please know, we are working on ways for people who are currently ineligible to win prizes to exchange their GV Rewards for virtual items and virtual goods that carry meaning and status on the site and are fun to interact with. Other thoughts and ideas are still being considered and we’re definitely open to any ideas or suggestions you (and everyone) might have about this.
Sincerely,
Chris Cummings
Manager, Gamesville.com

I do remember your working out a solution for the players from Australia who didn’t want to be cut off from the friends they made over the years–and that was much appreciated by all.
I suppose we are all guilty of ignoring the fine print. I do read a lot of it but certainly not ALL of it. I know you can’t sit beside everyone and hold their hand while they register. The only thing I would suggest is perhaps a caveat at the TOP of the Gold registration page–one final warning before they click. lol
All in all, Chris, you’re the best. You really do try to keep people happy.

I absolutely love Gamesville! I have been playing since 1997, but I could not remember my member name or password, after having a stroke in 2001 while living and working in the UK. I spent a lifetime in radio, guess I come by it naturally, as my Mother retired from Radio/TV and my Father recorded with Mercury and United Artist and had his own TV program in the early 50’s, and also played on the original Grand Ole Opry in the early 60’s. I said all that to say this; I lost my Father in November, 2009 and thanks to Gamesville I was able to get through some very sad days. Although I could not concentrate on the games very well, I had something that kept me entertained, and kept my mind from thinking so much about the sadness I was enduring. Thank you Gamesville you were my lifesaver!
