Well, the big news this weekend has to be NASA’s Curiosity rover successfully landing on Mars! According to the LA Times:
“Curiosity, the largest and most advanced spacecraft ever sent to another planet, stuck its extraordinary landing Sunday night in triumphant and flawless fashion, and is poised to begin its pioneering, two-year hunt for the building blocks of life — signs that Earth’s creatures may not be not alone in the universe.”
Exciting stuff! Space certainly is the Final Frontier and I so many kids have been inspired by astronauts to pursue science, engineering, and mathematics to help better our understanding of the universe and ourselves. Congratulations, NASA! Here’s hoping for a sneak-peak of Marvin the Martian in the near future.
