Recently, we’ve received a rash of complaints about a few specific members who are having trouble keeping it clean in some of the chat rooms.
Here are some basic rules for chat. Members who we determine have failed to follow these simple rules will find their Gamesville membership terminated.
- Do not abuse, harass, or threaten other players.
- Do not use language that is obscene, defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.
- Do not post adult-oriented content.
Chat postings that violate the Terms and Conditions — which contain additional rules that govern Gamesville and Gamesville chat — may also lead to the deletion, without notice, of your Gamesville account and everything associated with it, including accumulated Gamesville Reward Points.
These rules are pretty basic and easy to follow. Please follow them.

I think that people who swear and use abusive language need not be in these games. This mentality is destructive and should be squashed and thank you for bringing it to the attention of everybody

I would just like to mention that I have been playing in these rooms many years and found them to be filled with very nice people. Get rid of the jerks!

Thank You. It is nice to know that rude and nasty trouble makers won’t be tolerated. It is nice to play games and chat with good people. We are here to have fun.

I applaud respect for others but am dismayed by the non-contextual bleeping of completely respectable words by the ’silly sensor’ programme that doesn’t allow whole word & context recognition of proper language (english even)!

It’s nice to see that something is finally being done, there are alot of fantastic people in the rooms and it is a shame that the few who choose to be rude try to ruin everybody elses fun. Thanks alot Gamesville !!!!

Dont get me wrong…its a great thing that gamesville is stopping abuse…but reading the comments kinda makes me think a lil bit of finger pointing is going on…if some curses once I dont think we should automatically post on here and try to get them kicked of GV. Block if you must. There is a so called thing called Freedom Of Speech, but there will always be people out there that ruin it for the rest of us.
God Bless!

I have been at Gamesville for many years. In the past it was a great place to be. Everyone was real nice and the chat was good and you can learn a lot from people across the world. In the last few years it has been awful in some rooms. You still have the old timers so to speak that try to set them on the right track with their language. Some of the new folks also. I am glad that we dont have speakers to hear them with. My children like to play on here sometimes and what concerns me is the talk about drugs so openly. I have the id’s if you interested. I just don’t like that. I come in here to have fun I don’t expect to win I never have. I just like to unwind with friends. I block people but tonight was unreal. Get rid of the jerks or I will try to find somewhere else to play. After 10 or 12 years thats sad folks. Clean up gamesville it is home to a lot of nice people who do care about their friends. Thanks………. Kittysnow

There is a person in farmville today hosting a Bingo tourneyment, is using CAPS, and I find it annoying that she is giving directions and says she is the HOST of this game and can use her caps when HOSTING….we can’t talk about anything because she is hosting a game (bingo tourneyment) from 3 eyed bingo…fmfxyldybuggy….is the name, is this a normal thing now that we have to endure? Hosting a game from another room???????????Just was wonderng.

i think waiting until the money gets to 4 grand is bad you should let people win earlier you would have more players ty

Well I have written numerous emails to abuse, and even called Lyco’s voicemail for abuse reports and nothing has been done to stop a group of people who think they own the rooms and run ANYONE out that they do not like. I have been a subject of their abuse on many occassions and have not been able to get them to leave me alone. They have made it VERY clear that they do NOT want me in ANY room that they decide to reside in to play Bubble Popper and I really wish that someone would do something because it isnt fair that I have to see where they are and find another room!!!

i dont know why ppl come here and let you all know whats going on when nothing is ever done about it.you take away the one thing we had which was the block rule so the idiots and trash are still coming more now than ever and do whatever they want and say whatever they want so it does no good to complain about anything when you take away tools tht help us from this happening. your site is going downhill fast and them ppl will be the only ones left cause all the good players are getting tired of it and leaving. it is in all the rooms and i dont like playing here anymore cause of it but you all dont listen to us about it and by taking away the 3 block you encouraging it to go on but oh well it is your site do what you want but a lot of ppl will leave not that you care

I haven't played at this site in while and it has changed alot. Everyone has a preference about what they talk about or what they believe and whether or not some things should be said. Ive seen people get so mad over nothing. Everyone has the right to what they think and a right to say it. It doesn't have to be said in a nasty way. Everyone usually has a regular room they go to because that's where they've made friends and have fun. I don't think its fair that other people who come to that room and don't like what's being said if its not nasty and meant to be mean should have the right to cause problems. I think these blogs are just another way for trouble makers to cause problems and spread more lies and romours. Really we aren't in kindergarten. Coming here to tattle on people isn't really going to accomplish much because when it really comes down to it they will just get a different user name and start doing it all over agian. I think everyone needs to grow up a bit and quit with the he said she said crap and just come here to play and have fun and if somthing offends you don't take it personally. As far as children being on this site and the talk of drugs and other things going on that's up to the parents. But as a parent myself i let my kids play here all the time. And if your talking to your kids about that kind of stuff then they already know its wrong and i'm sure they are hearing alot worse when they leave the house to go play or go to school. I know personally my kids could care less about what's going on in chat cause they are too busy playing the game and the chat usually goes to fast when people are getting carried away. Not everyone is going to be happy with everything that is said and done at this site but that's life and they will deal with and if they don't they will find somewhere else to play. I find the block to be very effective so you won't find me in here complaing to give someone the boot.

When we said we were going to report someone in

Why are so many "clean" words blocked from GV chat? Words such as Hospice, death, gratitute?
I realize that there COULD be nasty words in midst of the letters of these words but come on! Give us a break eh? We just want to have clean, normal conversations with our friends without being blocked by GV programme "Censorship".Can't you set your programme to allow normal every day words be allowed?

Why do we bother posting questions/concerns/complaints here. GV doesnt seem to do anything, does not respond to us,etc.

Well, since some people mentioned all the todo about chatabuse, I read the entire epistle.
Rather amusing, I must say.
Does anyone actually know how to block? Why engage people you do not like or approve of in conversation?
I generally do not chat. I may respond if someone asks a question, but that is about all. I have seen the cliques and want no part of them.
If people annoy you, ignore them. Use the block button. They will stay blocked until you remove the block. Simple, isn't it.
Unless someone makes serious threats, or discloses your identity, ignore them!
By the way, people, hack programs are illegal in the USA, so if you feel someone is using it and reveals info they could not have gotten any other way, report them to your local law inforcement.
Well, that about takes care of it, doesn't it

One of the best features of Gamesville for the 10 years you were online was the 3-person block feature. You said you took it away because some people were being blocked unfairly. This punishes the good loyal long-time players in Gamesville and rewards the harrassing abusive players by allowing their ugly nasty comments to appear in the main chat room.
As long as they know their harrassment will continue to appear in the chat room to at least one person, they will have no incentive to stop. There are players who come into chat rooms for hours every day just to post nasty comments to the nice players, even comments laughing at people who are battling cancer and serious diseases. This cannot be allowed to go on. It upsets the entire room, because others can see what they say.
They must be forbidden to have their abuse and harrassment appear in the chat rooms. There is no other way to stop them other than to reinstate the 3-person block rule, or at least change it to a 5-person block rule.
You are losing nice long-time players because of them. One or two bad apples ruining the whole bunch.
Chris, you have done a wonderful job with Gamesville. But, like with the icon and emoticon changes, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You had the same icons and emoticons and the 3-person block rule for ten years. They weren't broke, so please don't fix them.
I am writing this letter on behalf of a group of approximately 50 long-time players who love Gamesville but are totally disgusted that you have taken away our only tool to let these people know they don't have a voice in chat. Blocking them completely is the only way to stop them.
Please bring back the 3- or 5-person block rule before you lose most of the nice people who make Gamesville the great place it has been for over ten years.
Thank you.

First off.. Why am I doing this if you won't respond but just delete some blogs written in here? There has been a problem in Magic 21 for a long time with a player named TKM2006 and nothing is being done about it. I keep coming back here to see if there is any response from Gamesville and all I see is that what I typed is deleted. PLEASE EXPLAIN!!! Nobody has to put up with the things that this player is saying to the whole room. Why block when a person can leave and come back unblocked? We asked so many times for something to be done. Will you please do something now. People are getting fed up with TKM2006. Thank you and I will be back to see if there is a response.

Why don't you all ask for a refund. There is a mute player option.. use it rather than complain to gamesville. The bottom line is nobody is paying to play on this site. Gamesville is generous enough to allow us all to play for FREE. So please.. use the tools they gave you to mute those you do not with to here. Gamesville is in no way obligated to respond to anyone.. me included. Yes some people are jerks, some may say I am but the reality is.. Gamesville gave you the means to mute the players you dont care to listen to.
USE IT PLEASE

What can we do about a player that comes in and continually talks filth and threatens people. He also talks about children should have guns in school giving children alcohol ad cigaretts.

THe whole situation with these imposters (as i call them) is dumb because they dont have a problem with gv its eaither with rank or someother league well they come in threating the players with about 20 names a day and i think that they should trace ip and block all of there names

i agree..i send in abuse reports and nothing..then i defend myself in lobby and now my account is banned but apparently they still want me to enjoy the site a little bit but only as a guest…how ridiculous…read in the previous blog what i posted..also how is it that ppl can be allowed to create horrendous names like wmnwholikdogdik…and then go in lobby and ask any women out there want to chat and play..or the ones like bigfatmeat…etc..how about screening ppls names before oking their accounts???

ive been coming in here for 13 yrs ,ive never said a harsh word to anybody untill one day i was to nice to someone an this person had me banned, we now have another person in are room being rude to new an old players, nasty to others, turning them in hardly ever works. it gets confusing just wish everybody could get along its just a game where ppl go to chat an find new friends.i see new ppl come in an ask questions an most just sit there.

Mr… Cummings,
I don't want to be petty here, but would like to know what you do with the winnings of banned members who come back with another name and win a Pot, whether it be bingo or whatever? I'm not going to mention names, just wondering what you do with the money. Is there a till you put it in? If you ban a member and their thousands names, isn't there a way to do it so they don't win? I know they won't received the money, but it's the principle of the matter. Thanks.
