Bullies and rude people are a fact of life, online and in the real world. Thankfully they can be a lot easier to handle online if you use the tools available to you. We take chat abuse very seriously here at Gamesville and are always looking to provide a clean and hospitable environment for members to enjoy our games.
When you encounter anyone being abusive in chat:
- Don't bring yourself down the offenders level. If you see someone acting in an abusive manner in chat (excessive swearing, personal attacks, etc.), don't try to argue with them or force them to be polite; instead, please add that player to your block list so you never see messages from that player again. If you use foul language in retort, your account may end up being banned
- Try to calm the room down. Be a leader, keep your cool. Many situations can be resolved with a kind word, or a reminder to other people in the room that the "block" button will silence troublemakers
- If things are really bad, report chat abuse. For more info check out this post.
We've always found that the best way to prevent inappropriate behavior is to be as friendly welcoming as possible to new players and living by the golden rule. Here are two really important reasons to welcome new players into the Gamesville community:
- These newcomers could become great gaming friends and you'd be missing out on something special if you reject a stranger because they have a star badge next to their name; and of course…
- The more people who play at Gamesville, the more money Gamesville generates from advertising and sales; the more money Gamesville makes, the more prizes we can afford to give out–everyone benefits if more people play, and a cornerstone to that is a warm, welcoming community.
Whether you're a Gamesville expert or a newcomer to the community, we're delighted so many people enjoy the games we provide here at Gamesville.
Good gaming, one and all!

in reading the informating on the chat abuse, anyone can see that no word holds true. people are in these rooms having a good time and draw in a great crowd to share in the laughs. you get one person that doesnt like what people talk about they have them banned. and for what? making people laugh? sickening how good, descent people are getting banned for absolutely nothing!! we are grown ups here. not 10 year olds. if you dont like what is said or being talked about…either block us or turn off your chat. it's just purely pitiful that people have to be afraid of what they say because they might "offend" someone. grow up people!!! let people have their fun. it's the internet. not real life that effects your everyday livng. i dont like what people have to say sometimes but i dont go "crying to mommy" i may not like it but everyone has the right to speak their mind. as far as i know…this "is" still a free country. ISN'T IT????

I must agree with dragon and sunny. We are all adults here having a good time and if someone gets their "feelings hurt" then they have two options, block that person so you can't see what they are saying or turn off chat and move on. We are not children, we are adults here to have a good time. If an abuse complaint is sent in, then it should be the responsiblity of GV to discuss the issue with all parties and NOT JUST TAKE SOMEONE'S WORD FOR IT THAT SOME PLAYER WAS ABUSING! Having proof of abuse or whatever, but I know that it is NOT INVESTIGATED and the person is not warned, they just come to play and cant get in. This is RIDICULOUS

i agree with u, the way things are now its not fair. if u dont like a person u can have it banned by just sending chat abuse report
Comment by "maria027" — October 28, 2008 @ 4:57 pm
I have to say i totally agree. There are people getting banned for no reason. And when they request a reason they get told they violated the terms of service. Since gamesville is in the business to make money you'd think they'd look into these isssues further. This "chat abuse" Is a way to get members back for anything. Like if you beat them too much or whatever. People need to grow up and stop acting like children.
Comment by "dont" — October 28, 2008 @ 7:08 pm
Hi All –
At Gamesville we have a responsibility to respond to all chat abuse reports in a serious manner. Once an alleged chat abuser has been reported the conduct is investigated by our customer service representatives.
Each report is investigated thoroughly and appropriate action is taken as a result of hard evidence. We do not enjoy banning users and do solely as a means to keep Gamesville enjoyable for all members. The decisions made are not always popular but they are always made after extensive research.
Please note the following basic rules of chat:
Members who we determine have failed to follow these simple rules, for any reason, even in the defense of other members, will find their Gamesville membership terminated. We appreciate your understanding that decisions are made solely with intent to keep Gamesville fun. After all, that's what we're all here for.
Comment by ohryankelley — October 28, 2008 @ 8:10 pm
if you want us to do what you have stated above. you might as well makke it impossible for us to talk to one another. we/re actually having "adult" conversations. we mean no harm to anyone and if we offend someone, we quickly apologize and try to rectify the issue. you know…that's what grown ups do.
Comment by "1blackdragon" — October 28, 2008 @ 9:15 pm
I agree that the people in charge at Gamesville are complete idiots. Peopld are being banned because of a single persons complain, and most often it is a mean-spirited person trying to get revenge on someone. One person in particular in Kansas City must have a record for having the most people banned. Every banned person on the list deserves to have their original ID back and all their Gamesville Rewards restored. Stop the nonsense. Don't let one person ruin the game for everyone. They can block whomever they don't like. Grow up and run this site for grownups, by grownups. Eliminate the Banned!!!
Comment by "joesyoyo" — October 28, 2008 @ 9:46 pm
I totally agree with what blackdragon and joesyoyo posted…we are all adults..but being treated like schoolchildren…so far all of the folks I've talked to that have been banned by Gamesville…have never been given an opportunity to state their case…You just took the word of the person making the compaint..I have been playing Magic 21 In Kansa City room for a few years now and have NEVER seen the likes of what's going on recently…..You at Gamesville think you're keeping players here with these bannings…think again..many players are just fed up that our fun is being ruined by a few troublemakers and are going elsewhere to play

Well, it is unreal what has been happening in these rooms. I have been playing gamesville for years. Have nurtured many friendships and have come to deeply care for some of the members here. Unfortunately, someone came into gamesville and is so hate filled and bitter that 'she' has taken it upon herself to ruin any fun or anyone else.
Gamesville cannot have investigated the so-called abuse very closely. Sounds as though all the person had to do was just capriciously report someone who was doing nothig bu chatting with their friends and gamesville pulled the plug on the 'victims' of this older lady.
Now, Gamesville is a site which has sponsors. I don't believe the sponsors of Gamesville would be non-too-pleased to find out that Gamesville is turning away potential customers. And people are paying members of Gamesville. Is Gamesville going to refund people's money because this is no longer a fun site to come to? Yes, think long and hard Gamesville and suspend your practice of capricious banning of these members. You are now committig abuse. You are abusing your members. I agree that at times you must issue a warning to certain members who may get a bit carried away, but banning someone's identity and their points is intrinsically abusive and wrong.
And I suggest you start by investigating that person (or persons) who has been reporting a lot of folks. The person will instigate the room and then run and report anyone she feels like reporting that day. I suggest you start exercising some restraint Gamesville and return this site to the fun place it used to be.

i have to fully agree with the above comments. i have been playing in the kansas city room for a little over a year now. previously i have not seen a problem until recently. it seems a team of people have taken it upon themselves to ban players whose opinion they do not agree with. Gamesville, you listed what to do when an abusive situation arises, but apparently SOME people feel they have to run to "the authorities" and report these players. Gamesville you said it in black and white, turn off the chat, block that person, or LEAVE THE ROOM!!!you want us to behave like adults (which we are), yet you treat us like children. Question for you! If i get banned, do i get a refund as being a paying member of Gamesville?
Comment by "whatadog" — October 29, 2008 @ 12:13 am
I agree with all the above postings. When I started playing 21 it was in several different rooms. The players were not at all friendly and would choose to ignore you. The players in K. C. are all very friendly and helpful. If someone doesn't like the chat why not go to a different room. The players that were banned were not deserving. It is not right that someone can turn another player in and walk away after they start this whole mess. When players play in the same room for along period of time they become friends and joke around. If that bothers you, then change rooms.

hi. just reading and responding to the latest in the "banning scandal" seemingly going on at gv lately.maybe some truly deserve it,maybe not but as a player and observer,i've noticed a few things.I understand the rules of conduct and all and there should be some to protect ALL parties involved.I've been looking at the whole picture and what i do know is that i see disparities in peoples age, character, beliefs, etc. and it's most difficult for so many people that are sometimes so different in many ways to always get along or live in perfect harmony at every level of subject matter in conversation as may arise at times.Options of blocking or shutting off chat are viable but not fun.I see this site as a place for people to have fun, chat with many different folks from all over this country and the world for that matter, and sometimes people vent out troubles, frustrations, and just wanna laugh with others getting away from the daily dulldrums of life so many of us face sometimes.People get moody, cranky or just wanna laugh and have a good time..we are all different on a daily basis…it's called human! I do have a proposed possible suggestion for gv tho….instead of having different towns for rooms(how many people you think actually live in most these that actually play here? lol)..anyway,maybe try an adult room where adults can freely chat without offending others who object….then maybe another called a seniors room for the meeker player, and perhaps an ages room..say 30-40's and and under 30 room or multiples of all of the above.if there are choices maybe there would be less drama in the future?..just a thought gv…thanks for the ear

Dear fellow members and Gamesville staff;
I have to agree with the above comment completely. I too, have witnessed the few that have come into the KC room and instigated arguments by posting negative and nasty comments to the existing conversations on the chat board. When other player have the alleged audacity, to defend the person being verbal abused, the one that originated the fracas.
I for one am a handicapped individual that frequents the site on a daily basis. Recently, the amount of player that I have known for several months that are being banned is sky-rocketing.
Would it not behoove Gamesville to institute a policy that it take more than one player to place a abuse report, and that the staff at Gamesville take the time to review the chats. I find it difficult to believe or comprehend that your staff would be satisfied with banning individuals that have frequented your site for years, whether they are paid members are not.
Word of mouth is the best form of advertising. If people are pleased with their experience at Gamesville; they will recommend more players to the site. If, however, they are disillusioned they will not recommend Gamesville to friends and family.
I for one suggest, one an uncensored chat room that other sites offer and it seems to work for them. Perhaps even two, and expand that to all games offered at the site.
Secondly, a series of steps that lead to banning after say 5 reports from 5 different members, accompanied by review of the chat that alleged occurred. First a warning, second a period of suspension, and third strike banning.
It is time to put an end to the craziness. I am quiet sure the staff at Gamesville has better things to do than play referee.

Well said dear queen – well said. I sincerely hope Gamesville is paying attention to these posts. I sincerely hope they will take their time and indeed investigate the supposed chat abuse. I cannot believe the restrictions imposed on adults here. You must be 18 to play here and most of us, alas, are way beyond that age – ah to be 18 again!
We are adults who enjoy adult conversation, and by that I don't mean filth – I just mean adult conversation, about our joys, sorrows, struggles, our day in general. That will sometimes lead to adult topics my friends – so what is so wrong with that?
Gamesville you catering to and allowing one or two people to constantly get our friends banned here is very sad to me. Warnings are one thing, but bannings are totaly uncalled for in these situations – and the warning should go to the person(s) who caused our good and loving friends Rhazer and Whirly to be banned. Two of the sweetest, nicest individuals I have ever encountered in a chat room anywhere.
For shame I say, for shame and this used to feel like such a safe place to be. Now we are all weighing each word and constantly looking over our collective shoulders. This should not be – for shame Gamesville.
I like the suggestions some people have made here and I truly hope and wish Gamesville will seriously consider some, if not all, of them. Good suggestions gang and see you all in Kansas City! Luv ya all.

dear gamesville brothers and sisters,
it has been brought to my attention that 2 of my friends have just received a warning for abusive chat. these ladies do NOT talk rude or crude! if they have a problem…they block or leave the room. proof is in the pudding that these matters are NOT, i repeat, NOT being investigated at all!! most of us are quite reasonable and very respectful of others. when is this going to end?
we are told not to bother gamesville because they DONT want to deal with our problems in the rooms. how can we not bother them when we have certain individuals that proudly boast that they talk with a certain gamesville representative on a DAILY basis!!! we are threatened by these people and goated into arguing with them. and then…once a situation occurs, WE are the ones getting banned. NOT THEM!!!
none of us is safe in here anymore unless we take a stand. and if i get banned…so be it. i'm standing up for all of you! no matter what we talk abou, we are adults and know that what is said in the rooms do not affect our everyday living. my world is not going to end because someone said something i may not agree with. i welcome ALL topics of chat and if there is one i dont like…i back off. i dont threaten them. i respect their opinion and thoughts because they have EVERY right to be here.
Stand up people! we all play hear and should have the right to be heard!
thank you

I just wanted to say I agree with everyone here. I was banned after being harassed by one person. She would come in the room I was in and just start in on me. I dont know how many times I told her to leave me alone but she wouldn't. I was defending myself and said a not so nice word and I am banned after three years. She has been harassing me almost two years she never got banned and just because i didnt say an appropriate word I am banned. Where is the fairness here.

I have been playing here for several years and have to agree with the majority here, I have NEVER seen anything like the "Chat Ban" going on currently and and I have watched silently as the events unfolded the past few weeks. What I saw was very similar to the Salem Witch Trials. One person stirred up a ruckus, did a lot of finger pointing, and even slandered others. I dare not speak for fear of losing my hard earned icons and name too as too many here have experienced. Those who were banned recently and repeatedly are "regulars" and have a rapport built up in the KC room of Magic 21. That warmth and charm and playful bantering back and forth, the fun, is what draws myself and many others back to play and especially in the KC room. What is tragic is that now everyone is really afraid to chat anymore for fear of being "banned". Many fine points have been made by the others and Gamesville should really investigate the charges made and consider the sources as well.

well well well…where to start! First off i gotta hand it to all of you and us in kansas city. way to go and stand up for our room!
I have been in GV for about 2 yrs now, and have enjoyed pretty much all of my time. Until now……(dont get me wrong, us the people that play here and keep your company alive, we will still go on:) )
This is obsurd that we have to put it all in a blog to get your attention Gamesville! As we all know your rules and what is not to be said in the chat rooms, tell me why poeple can not stand up for their friends when someone comes along and starts harrassing people? Of course theres going to be arguments, of course people will lash out, of course things will be said that shouldnt be said. Honestly, please tell us where the crime is, when all we`re trying to do is, keep our room the way it should be. FUN, RELAXING, ENJOYABLE, SAFE! We all have a wonderful time in there and we all are pretty good friends. there are alot of great people in there!
Please tell us why someone can continue to come in and call us all rattle snakes and she isnt banned? you say not to offend anyone, well isnt that offending us? This banning stuff is getting a bit ridiculous! I changed my screen name in there after I got a warning from you, i really never even spoke with it, but I find out yesterday that it was banned also. what did you pick a day and a time to ban a bunch of us, to make a point?
Why dont you try this instead. Give a warning once and then the second time around, suspend the name, say two weeks? If theres a third time that person is complained about, then ban them. We all understand that some content isnt cool with you, but does your team really spend time in finding out exactly what was going on, before you just say ok your banned?
A bunch of us were talking the other night and wondering if maybe we can set up a room, maybe with a password on it. Like you have in Spades. That way, the "friends" could have a place to go that, is a safe enviroment and a friendly one.
Keep up the good work everyone from kansas city! We WILL all stick together on this!

Hello to Gamesville: I have been watching with interest the confrontation regarding the "banning" on the Gamesville Magic 21 site. I have been a member of Gamesville for approximately three years. I do not participate in the "chat", however, I do view same. I have found the members who use the Kansas City site to be quite entertaining at times and enjoy watching the chat. I have become familiar with the members you have chosen to ban and must say that it appears your banning process seems to be unwarranted and quite arbitrary. You have put in place sufficient outlets allowing those who choose not to participate on this site. They have the option to block those with whom they do not wish to interact and they have the option of choosing another game room to play in. It does appear that the one who is doing the complaining happens to be the one that starts the controversy in the first place. I would think that Gamesville would benefit more if they properly investigated complaints instead of just responding by banning. I will be watching closely at your future actions regarding this matter and, should they continue, I will be contacting your sponsers with my concerns. Thank you. Marilyn Sandford

I too have to agree with every single blog post that has been posted. This has gotten absolutely to the point that its as about as childish as it can get. I have been playing for quite some time and have made many online friends that come to"KC" room to have fun and relax, but that seems to have come to an abrupt halt lately since we apparently have an individual(s) with nothing better to do than stir up trouble likely just because they arent a social person, therefore cant stand to see those that are. I have seen some people banned that absolutely had no call to be. Good people that never ever cause any trouble, but just because someone says they said something, or done something, you ban them. I assure you I can't believe any of this actually being investigated because if it were, why arent some members notified to be asked if they seen anything inappropriate or whatever? I know you have to say it was investigated to make it look good….maybe you did investigate…..but in schooling I took for investigations…..we confirmed our facts and obtained solid proof before filing charges on an individual(s), we dont just say ..well…so and so said he did it…so it must be true…lets get him locked up( in GV's case banned) Its time to wake up to reality and look at the situation and say…hmmmm you know…very few people in past, if any have been banned…but in last several weeks…look how many have been….duhhh somethin not right. I say investigate….but check it out yourself….or as others have said….first report….warn them…but at the same time….let them have a say in their defense. Im sure whoever is reading these blogs that is responsible for all the mayhem of late is really gettin their kicks right now. I just cant believe that a site, as big as Gamesville has become in past few years, would allow this to go on as it has been…without maybe doing a check on whos doing the reporting…who knows..maybe they work for gamesville. I may get banned for speaking my mind….if i do…so be it, but when people are treated as they have been for just having fun…im willing to take the sacrifice…..and with my profession…believe me..I know what sacrifice is and can be. Hang in there KC The truth shall set you free.

hi, I agree where gamesville should a process when someone gets banned. I have been playing here for a few months now and I love it and have met some reallygreat, nice people.I was shocked to see people getting banned changing names or whatever. WHAT! this is supposed to be fun . Yes foul language should not be used but we are adults here and sometimes it slips big deal. I feel like i'm in school. I think gamesvile should first investigate and maybe warn first if anything seen, before totally banning someone just because someone else said. I hope that made sense.
Comment by "beachbumm" — October 29, 2008 @ 10:01 pm
I have to agree with all of the others. This banning is out of hand. I come here to enjoy myself. I can't do that any more. My friends are getting ban and warnings that are not warranted. I feel that the people that have caused these problems are still here, and this is not right.
The people in the kc room are the best that you could ask for, and what is happening to them isn't right. These people wouldn't hurt anyone. I think you should remember there is spiteful people out there, and they like to cause trouble. You are letting them do this.
I come in after a long day and want to relax with my friends. I can't do this because of the banning. People are tense and upset over this. Please correct your mistakes. I feel people while leave if they have to walk on egg shells. I'm sure you don't want this.

I have enjoyed Gamesville for a couple of years now.. as these years have gone by, I have watched more and more people gettin banned for no real true reason…As of late it has gotten totally out of hand…I would like to ask Chris this question…Is it a normal policy for you to personally contact a member of Gamesville to find out if the bickering is still goin on? We have been told that you personally contacted a player in Kansas City by phone to inquire of such( she wa chosen cause she was the oldest and wisest of us all) cough cough choke choke….
Now lets get to the point….. These people have nothing better to do than make others miserable…that is how they get by in life….We come here for fun and yes adult conversation….You have the block feature and the turn of chat feature, but yet they wont use it…..I feel that they dont use it because they feel they will b left out of something….
When it comes to being offended by what others say… actually it is the interpreters mind that makes it offensive, not what is said…
I feel that Gamesville can correct this issue by adding uncensored rooms for those of us adults that can handle adult conversations…
Yes there are times we disagree, but we are all entitled to our opinions, whether they are agreed with or not. This does not make us bad people….
I would like some response to all of the great comments that have been made here regarding this issue… Not by Oryanobrien, but by Chris Cummings himself..
Lets act like the adults we are and get this under control

I started visiting GV in 2003 during the lowest point of my life. I started playing in KC when Magic 21 started. I do not participate in chat because one of the players contacted me by PM and pretended to be someone else and really did an hackett job on me at an already low period in my life. Having said that, I continued to visit KC and watch and read the banter from other members. I feel as though some are truly my friends even tho they don't know me.
Every time I felt down I went in there because I knew I'd soon forget my problems. However, the very people who made me laugh are the ones who are now banned. I know some of the troublemakers and I feel that the wrong people were kicked out. I don't enjoy my visits to KC anymore because the people who made my life bearable are no longer allowed in. It's to sombre and everyone tiptoeing around is really terrible.
I hope this is resolved soon. Please Gamesville, do the right thing and let these people back in with their old names and their gvs.
Thanks for listening.

There certainly is a large group of faithful players from Kansas City saying the exact same thing which makes a very clear statement. Kansas City really is my hometown, and we are a little rough around the edges, and like it that way! I have been a member since 2003, and hope to continue in the future. But as long as I do not attack anyone, I feel I should be able to talk with my friends here, like I do in real life. The chat moves so fast in this room that at times we overlook players we do not know, but it is unintentional…so shove right in, take your shoes off, and stay a while. If I have to change to suit 100% of the people, 100% of the time…you have made a request I cannot honor, and do not want to be a part of. Let this room stand, restore its members with all of their achievements, and let us start fresh. But do make rooms for those who are of a meeker persuasion, and honor their wishes in those rooms…they too have a right to have it their way. Gamesville, in closing, I ask you to consider a Burger King approach. You have the ability to let everyone "have it their way".

I have been gone for a couple of weeks and see things have gotten out of hand.
I have to agree with a lot of the comments. If you don't want to join into the conversations, stop the chat or block the member.
I feel people just come in to cause trouble for other members that have been playing for years and are chatting with their friends. People that cause all the trouble are just wanting attention. (any can, including the wrong kind).
Gamesville needs to investigate all the conversations and check with other members that where in the room at the same time the trouble was caused.
KANSAS CITY ROOM ROCKS.
This is just my opinion.

Ok, so we all know that theres miserable people on here. There's crybabies and theres people who can't take a joke. Its unfair that they get to choose who gets banned and who doesn't. I would like to inquire as to what the full "investigation"in gamesville entails? Do you simply read the ticket and ban the player? Does gamesville actually investigate anything? I THINK NOT. Y'all need to get your act together or one day everyone's gonna get sick of this garbage and Gamesville will be almost empty…….. Before you bann anybody make them get a screen shot program or have a handful of witnesses. DON'T TAKE THEIR WORD ON IT YOU'RE BANNING PEOPLE WHO HAVE BEEN HERE FOR YEARS.

ok since i see what you gv have responded with then tell me as to why a player can get banned ,with no notification as to why or proof to one self the reason this is unfair practice,if u are going to continue banning people why dont gamesville start banning the right people than the innocents ones that enjoy a laugh and making friends, and again it goes back to opening an uncensored room and those thar dont enjoy chat have another option rather than keep banning people for minor issues,i have played for 6years on this site playing with the same ppl and meeting new players and becoming friends up until the chat abuse was braught into action i have never been bannned until now its becoming a dailly routine now i feel like there is a promontion on banning and gamesville employess are working on commision regrading how many peopl can get banned in one day.

i love kansas city and the people in that room. everyone laughs and talks to each other. it is as everyone else has said ….we are all grown ups. If u don't like the conversation…turn chat off or go to another room. no one talks in the other rooms….believe me and it is very boring. we are all there to laugh and have a good time. if we cant do that then y bother playing. people can b spiteful and may come into kansas city and start arguments to get people banned and that isnt fair. gamesville only hears one person's side without regard to anyone elses. if someones ears are "too holy" for the conversation maybe gamesville should make a kiddie room or a choir room.

Gamesville i have a queation for you people behind the scenes, are you real or are you automated like everything else? we adults would like to have a room where we can carry on and have fun,its at the point now people come in they dont even communicate, for the fear they may get banned, point is if your adults like us then lets do something about the problem, and the only way your going to fix it is reinstate the good people at kc,cause if u dont,i feel your site will take a terrible down and people are going to start contacting your sponsors and letting them know exactly how you are running your site, most of us at kc highly respect this site and it would really be a shame to lose so many good people just because u have a few troublemakers coming in and out,I really hope that if you at gamesville are real people with real hearts like us you will make things right, for all the people who have been done wrong:remember this my friend, two wrongs dont make a right, set an example and do the right thing, really hope to see all my friends who have been banned, reinstated and back in kc real soon…………

An open letter to Whom It May Concern, The Powers That Be, The Banning Brigade…
My name is Amy. I have been playing Magic 21 in my beloved Kansas City Room for a while now. I may be a newbie or a rookie, but let me tell you one thing… The people in this room are REAL.. wonderful amazing people who reach out and embrace anyone who wants to be involved. I would know because they did it for me. These people ARE Gamesville, they are the heart and the breath that make this place ALIVE. Its sad to see how the most fun loving room on this entire site has been walked all over. I implore the powers that be at Gamesville to give us some consideration. I feel that we are owed some explanations as to what are friends have said that have got them banned. Detailed explanations… where they went wrong in the "rules" Exactly what they said that so offended someone. We do not cuss.. you have a system in place to prevent that. I happen to find it quite humorous that you bleep some of the words you do, but whatever.
People who are receiving warnings and getting banned should be told what is wrong. You don't just arrest someone and take them to jail and throw away the key without telling them what their crime was. Are all angles TRULY investigated? Are there steps in place to allow someone to defend themselves? Some of the great people have been banned have spent a lot of time here. Earning GV's and making friends and giving your website traffic. How about some fairness and truth where THEIR HONOR is concerned?
Most of these new people who come in are baiting our members. They are causing fights, saying rude things and in general just disrupting the flow of the fun and lightness that Kansas City entails. Or some of these people are coming in, seeing one comment and taking it out of context. Do you think I went crying to Gamesville when Whirly called me a brat one day? We were playing around, but anyone could have come in and thought he was harrassing me and had him banned. You have to look at the BIG PICTURE. Better yet, look at it from all sides, and if anything INTERVIEW the people who were involved. Give people a chance Gamesville. Or better yet, pick one of the veterans to be a moderator for our Kansas City room and give it a password so that we can play and chat in peace without worry of "offending" someone. Our attitude and fun are being taken away and in this day and age, its ridiculous. We are adults here and wish to be treated as such.
I'm officially stepping off my soapbox now. But I hope you consider the words of some very wonderful people who have commented on this post. I repeat, these people are the HEART and SOUL of Gamesville.
Thanks,
amyjmccallum "Amy"

Jenny..so sorry to see you go cant belive they banned you again..what a shame…As for my warning gamesville please in future send a more personal warning..the general warning that you send everyone that gets one goes to show me that no investigation was done at all..if your gonna take time to send them then please be professional enough to explain to us exactly what was done to deserve them..I still do not know why i recieved a warning and would really like a detailed explanation..KC YOU ROCK!!!!!!!!

i have to say i see 2 things in common in all of this. one – it only involves the kc site?? why is that?? are we being picked on, singled out, discriminated against.
the other thing in common – everyone is saying there is no investigation of the accusations. gamesville, do you take one persons side of a story. do you have blinders on??? are you narrow minded???
get off our backs, and please let us know what we did wrong. every story has 2 sides you know, but you are only listening to one side – the wrong one.
thank you again for listening. you are listening aren't you???

there is a way to handle most any situation. people dont have to be rude to others to get a point across. if a person does not like what is being said–then ignore them, block them—turn the other cheek. there is never a reason to belittle a person to get a few laughs. we do not know what these persons problems are–we don't know how much we are encouraging such bad behavior by falling into their misery. why even bother–chat, play your game and enjoy the company of those that you enjoy being with. if we are all adults–let's act like it.

well said everyone. well said! you see gamesville? all this nonsense that is being created? wint be too much longer now and more people will just up and leave. good business comes from good references and let me tell you something…i highly doubt anyone as of rescently will give any good references. some might even get the idea to take this up with your sponcers. maybe go even higher and go to the Better Business Bureau! some might even call their Attourny General and see if what you are doing is even legal
people are not stupid gamesville. and dont go around thinking that we are! you mae have created the site for your benifit but WE MADE GAMESVILLE!!! without US…you wouldnt have a leg to stand on. you're messing with possible revenue and you're tossing anyone aside just because of ONE person's whining. wake up and smell the coffee gamesvill!!! we SHALL be heard!!

You know this is just a game site that people
come into to talk with people and make friends…
If children don't want or can act right why is it they have
to ruin the fun and friendship that others have made…
People need to grow up and get a life…
We are here to have fun and hopefully win some money…

i have been reading everything that has been said about this banning and i also do agree with everyone.alot of the talk was for the kc room.i play alot in shelby and once up on a time i felt comfortable playing and always knew that when i went into this room i was going to talk with my second family where we can say what ever comes to mind.because of this banning shit i lost two family members that dont talk to me any more because they think i was the one who turned them in.so when you ppl bann you are causing problems with the rooms between good ppl.so now i get to where i dont talk to anyone so you gamsville want to talk far and rules and other ppl rights where are mine.so now all the really good ppl are so afraid of talking there to busy trying to watch every word.we dont come to your site to hurt ppl we are here to have a good time and you said that is what this site is for so why run all of us off.i looked forward to coming here all the time but not latly.so now what !we are family in here so i guess what you need to do is ban one ban all.because just to let you know YOU DONT MESS WITH FAMILY.so i will say what i want when i want get the ban papers ready i will be more than happy to join my freinds in the ban room.these ppl that have nothing better to do with there time get a life.because you are not going to cost me aneither family member.to all my freinds and family in this site who knows me.i just want to thank you all for being here for me in more ways then one you all are very special and great great ppl.

Hey y'all its not just in KC its all over. Over in spades we've had several people lose their name and not know why. The response gamesville gives is violation of terms of service. We have no warnings in spades……. Just one day you can't log into your account. Its getting to be bs. Its not fair. Its not right, it is in fact discrimination, because Gamesville is being bias having snitches in each room I believe. There are people who deserve to be ignored. Some act childish, and try to goad people into a fight but these aren't the people being banned, its the people who sit and play and have fun goofing around with their friends that get banned. I know several people who were banned because they're good. I don't know maybe its time to find a new site………..Or create one which I'm looking into. "Gamesville" sounds like a place to have fun. Its not anymore you can't say anything without worrying that you'll be banned. And oops i'm sorry but i'm an adult and if i swear deal with it its not like you've never heard the words before. U can't even say saturday without it being scrambled whats up with that? If there's minors here they shouldn't be allowed in rooms with adults, first for their own safety, and second for our sanity, Its easy to figure out who's of age and who's not. I do believe i had to enter my birthday when signing up for gamesville, they're so good at blocking people. Block it so people under 18 can't get into certain rooms. Gamesville has several rooms so those who don't like the chatter, or who get offended could simply switch rooms. Play with the robots, who don't talk and besides they're horrible playing can't offend anyone. Gamesville has offended several people by removing innocents names. Who do we go to on that one? Where do we complain?
Comment by "dont" — October 31, 2008 @ 9:43 am
i totally agree with u there dont as i agree with everyone in this blog
i myself keep gettting banned if i go in with another name.i am not even chatting sometimes and im banned again WHAT FOR I ASK GAMESVILLE,y cant gamesville submit evidence to those that are being baNNED well my answer is there is no evidence,if gamesville should check im sure they will find it is the same people doing all the reporting ,well i say gamesville start banning there asses than all us innnocent people ,i am no angel and dont claim to be ,but im not abusive or rude to anyone of course there has been occasions like all but nothing that is that offensive to be banned ,i think its about time either gamesville sorted this mess out once and for all other wise it is gonig to end up being a ghost town,i myself have went to another site ,but im still coming back in to gamesville ,until they give me proof or areal reason as why they have banned me and others im going keep coming back as long as i can,i will not allow myself to sit in a corner and not talk for fear of getting banned, has gamesville every considered that the people that are doing all this reporting may actually have friends that work for gamesville, which makes all this crap easier for you gamesville to ban INNOCENT PEOPLE
Comment by "donnalawson" — October 31, 2008 @ 12:26 pm
Well Gamesville, there are 54 comments so far. Does that tell you something? We are all waiting to hear YOUR comments and explanations on this. I have been playing here for 5 years and would hate to leave. But when innocent people leave I guess I will too .
Comment by "Nanaonce" — October 31, 2008 @ 3:32 pm
Well its pretty much all been said. So enough is enough. Gamesville has made it abundantly clear that no investigations into the many accusations against people in the Kansas City Chatroom will be made. I have an idea. Let's start over. Reinstate all banned players. Clearly state the rules of Gamesville chat, i.e., acceptable and unacceptable language, behavior, etc. This avoids any type of investigations which are clearly adverse to Gamesville, players can start over, all knowing the rules, and we can go from there. Then when situations take place the offenders will know why they can no longer play on a site that they sincerely enjoy playing on. Can you see why maybe this might be the way to go.
What do you say Gamesville?
menjohnny aka Deanne Ringler
P.S. Don't even think about touching my pizza.
Comment by "menjohnny" — October 31, 2008 @ 4:00 pm
Well, I've read a lot of these comments and I have to agree. Ive been gone for awhile, and came back to see more nonsence. Banning players based on what one person says or complains about is stupid. You should wait until you have a certain amount of complaints from different people before they are banned. Or better yet, don't ban people at all. We are all supposed to be big kids in here. The block button works quite well, I should know.
Just leave things the way they were. Let people be adults and make jokes. You want us to be able to chat with each other right? And as we all know not everyone is going to get along and not everyone is going to be nice and agree with each other. Not every topic in a chat room is going to be about puppies and flowers. While the idea of banning bullies and harrassers is a good one, there are always going to be people who want to whine and complain about everyone. And those are the kinda people who report others for stupid reasons. I know for sure if I cant laugh and make jokes, I won't be here for long!
Comment by "CountryChick21" — October 31, 2008 @ 4:29 pm
i really find it funny how people can go and complain about others in the chat when they say things just as well as others. But however everyone I have meet in Magic 21 K/C room are very nice, polite and speak very highly of others. I have never heard anyone from K/C disrespect anybody at no time. This banning is a bunch of non sense and needs to be stopped asap. The ones that have the time to report someone else is the same ones causing the problems.
thank you so much for your time gamesville. dd

Come on Gamesville…we are at 60 comments and counting on this chat abuse blog that ohryankelley started on 10/23……Has anyone at GV even taken the time to read our responses?
We know that ohryankelley has been in the Kansas City magic 21 room…..sometimes for hours at a time…..we assume to check up on us…..has he seen anything horrible being said or any of us being rude to people? Probably not…because cept for a few trouble makers in the past…we are a great bunch of people who just want to relax and have fun chatting with our on-line friends.
These warnings and banning people without merit is getting insane..people are afraid to talk for fear they are next…tell me what kind of fun is that?
Well thanks for listening (if you ARE listening that is) and please try and come up with some sort of solution for this problem. Other than just banning people with no explanation.

Well said e1. i see a lot of my fellow magic 21 brothers and sisters commenting on this blog. besides the player "dont" does any of you even care that your fellow members are being targeted? do you even care that one day you may be next? i say stand up and fight for your rights! we made this site what it is today. i am a magic 21 player of the kansas city room however…i'm standing up and fighting for everyone!!! to many of the innocent are being condenmed. this IS worse than the Salem Witch Trials.
so how do you work it gamesville? do you pull a few names out of a hat and say "ok…they're banned" or do you simply go by the word of one asshole? oh wait…why did i even ask you that? the answer is answer number 2.
it's time for the people to take a stand for whats right.and for the ones who want to complain in the room but not say anything in here…cant blame no one but yourself for letting this continue.

Here is what i see happenning at Gamesville:
Magic21 is not making enough revenue, therefore it looks like the staff here have decided to make a controversy, start by blocking folks, get the rooms riled up by sending in agitators,,,,have a nice long blog,,,,,(which they are doing their damdest to hide under 6 or 8 halloween topic blogs),,,the blog shows macontentment,,,,they will in the end use this as their reasoning to end the game magic21,,,,,
if they were interested in making the room fun,,,,they would have answered your concerns already. they are intellegent adults,,,they know what they have,,,they know what they want to do with it.
KANSAS CITY,,,wow ya all blow me away ty for sticking up fer us

To All my friends in Kansas City, I realize the tension is at critical mass. Of the above posters, Rky and Jenny have the most reason to spew. We are their friends, and we miss them, but they are the ones who have been deeply wronged, along with several others that we dearly love. Although we are extremely angry, and fed up; being antagonistic towards Gamesville is not going to help. I think that they are probably pretty irritated themselves. They were sucked in by a tattle tail, and made a bad choice, and now do not know what they are going to do to correct it. They may just stay silent and hope we move along. We have given them lots of suggestions, and I hope they will act on them. Saying we do not know what has been violated is at times false….I have read these rules over and over lately….the problem is….I don't like some of them. I want a room where we can cut up as adults do (must be 18 to play) as long as we don't harrass or threaten people. It is sad that one person called Gamesville daily and forced their rules hand. Now Gamesville, I am asking you to alter the rules, and if you disagree, that is your choice, and mine will be to play elsewhere. But I think that you do want your members to be happy, and I am counting on it. But I can only wait so long before I give up hope, and the clock is ticking like a hammer to my brain. It's time for your response. I am not here to be a trouble maker, I will just move along.

I have to agree with Blackdragon , running bear, jenny, and all the rest of my good friends that I have meet in Kansas City…I now come into the room and find out that someone has been banned because of some unhappy person who has nothing better in life to do but make trouble for nice people – maybe that person should "grow up" and just block out the people she disagrees with and let the rest of us hard working people who enjoy gamesville enjoy being with our friends

I certainly hope you see whats going on chris, I told the room when i was knocked out , others would be soon to follow, i was right, the Nastys hadda get me out first to pavethe way, I told you chris who and what they were doing, i told you my side as well, but again you didnt listen, now they are after all the good people in there, and in other rooms as well. You remained silient on the innocent ones, yet protect the guilty ones, why? is it because of revenue? i think not, i think like rocky says, its to demorilize the good people in that rooom and allow the bad to do as they wish. What a concept you have, hhmm

I'm right here with ya dragon. Its not about KC or spades or whatever its about whats right for everybody. But i did go into KC to observe. Boy oh Boy its worse then you all say!!! I saw nothing wrong. I saw a group of adults having fun, doing absolutely nothing wrong. Over in spades however, if you beat someone too many times they report you. Oh and I use to be an abusive well not so much abusive.I use to have a short temper. Now im an asst. Manager on a nother site hehe. It wasn't a matter of becoming "nicer" it was a matter of growing up. I am still young, but i grew up alot in the few years i was gone. I can tell you from personal experience that these people are just miserable the ones who are banning everyone else. I wouldn't ban anybody theres no respect in tattle tailing speak your mind or shut your mouth and take it! Thats what it is either you Stand up and fight or you lay down and let em walk all over you. Me im gonna stand up and fight. I got the word out as much as i can. Its not fair and its not right and i don't have to hide my name to comment on a blog. i have read many of the comments that have come from the Kanas City room and i am appauled at your inability to answer their questions or their remedies to elevate these growing problems.
Kanas City is the only room inwhich i play. As some of the players' ideas that they have submitted why not try having an adult room with a pass word for that room only.
Possibly a second remedy is to have a monitor that will transcribe all conversations from all players in every room and when a report comes in then send a rep from gamesville and talk to the whole room, then privately single out the reported person if guilty warn them then if it happens again then suspend them from chat for a period of time.
Wouldn't this be better than banning them completely.
Some of the words that you(gamesville) consider valugar are much better than using the full derogotory words.
That this idea in consideration.
The people in Kanas City deserve better than what they are receiving. KANAS CITY ROCKS

hi again,
i posted in this blog back when it started and after seeing the many responses have posted again. Ive been playing here between 8-10 years and never have seen such a response from so many, passionate about their friends and gamemates on here. It's just a testament of the comradery that exists among those who come here to gv as adults to play and have fun. It's not only about the games that are played, rather the sharing of lives with one another from all over in life, love, heartache and health issues. It's also a chance to connect with others when sometimes you have noone to vent to or discuss such matters. I havn't seen so much controversy in a very long time such as of late and have seen much worse back in the day with very few bannings espescially in the old bingo rooms back in the day. I rarely say anything in chat anymore, but i do enjoy watching and musing at the playful adult fun and comedy in kc room, cuz playing is much more fun because of it. Now about the so called abuse you say thats going on…what u say is vulgar,objectionable,crude..i guess it just depends on whose idea of whats said is just that.If the majority of the players there are havin fun,not hurting anyone and using some of these words among themselves, whats the harm? If 2 out of the 20 find it objectionable, well there are options..thats why you invented them right? In my age bracket(give or take 10 years),just about everyone uses certain so called "bad" words as common as some drink coffee! We dont think about it..just comes natural i guess..or maybe it's because i'm from jersey lol. On the serious side, adults are adults everywhere across the country altho i'm sure some language may be frowned upon in certain areas of the country. If everyone was the same,it would be a boring planet! I proposed a possible solution back when this blog started and others followed suit with same or simular ones. Why not have a game room change? Adult rooms, age group rooms or label rooms of interests? Can't hurt to try it out right? You could try it out on a temp basis and if it dosn't work you can always go back.By doing this, you may satisfy all involved and gv may rid itself of the recent probs therefore keeping a lot of it's members to stay and possibly getting many more in the future. Thanks for the ear again, and to all kc people and other rooms if it applies..keep pluggin!
sincerely,
the fish

Well said Marilyn!! It is the sponsors that pay wages @ gv & without them they don't have a sight. That being said I will follow your lead if the madness doesnt stop! I have already set up on other sites because this is getting so ridiculous. I set up @ Bingo America until I realized that gv runs that also & have not gone back there since. Only reason I am still here cause I have made lots of friends on this site but sadly its like they are all slowly dying off since they cant play here anymore. PLEASE NO MORE "FUNERALS"!!

I find it refreshing to see complete strangers band together and defend people that they have never met. These same people have always been nothing but courteous, kind, friendly and respectful towards me and any other member who comes in to the KC room.
I have seen a few bad seeds in the bunch, but they are not regular players. I have also witnessed these few bad seeds take offense at something someone has said when it is not even directed at them. When others react badly to these comments, it gives the bad seeds power. Exactly what they want. They thrive on knowing they have power over you. We as adults should never give anyone, especially a complete stranger this satisfaction. All it takes is self control. We all have it in us. It is hard to have self control when we can't see past our hurt and anger. We need to stop giving the power to the bad seeds, if we don't, they win.

When I started playing on gamesville it was for fun and still is for the most part. However , since I started here my husband became disabled and am now his caregiver. This room of K C has almost become like a life line. I don,t have alot of time so I don,t join in on the chat. However, if I did I know they would take me in like a friend and give me their support. That is the kind of people that are regulars in there. And to give a warning or ban people for chit or arse is ridiculous. We are all adults and believe most of us have heard these words before. Thanks for listening.

Back when i started play in this site in 2006.I never had such good freinds.Idont under stand why gamesville now wants to run off all the old members.Look we are all good ppl you see all the ones that have kept this site going way before i even come on.I under stand there are rules. But why now is it a power thing and there are more ppl playing here what i dont under stand. The only thing i do under stand is this banning is a real problem i understand that you have to inforce you rules but this as gone way to far dont you think.Im a grandmother raising 5 granchildern taking care of my mom.I come into this site because of my freinds and the chat.Alot of ppl said thinks that i didnt like are approve of but i didnt complain it was their way of having fun or venting everybody has their own way of doing thing. If i was so ubcomfortable i go to aneither room are turn off chat whick i never did they werent hurting me are anyone else. These words are the way of life and that you can not change.Ive used these words time r two im sure you and everyone has but is that good reason to ban everyone because that is what is going to happen or ppl just leave. Please stop this nonese give us back our rooms our freinds are family. The ppl in shelby n kc have became my 2nd family the only place i can go to get away from from my every day stress. There is not one person in this site that would not be there for me if i needed them.I need my freinds back i need to laugh and have fun.Im so sorry mddfs that have been banned they will see the light and we will all have fun again hang in there we miss you all.

This is directed now to Chris Cummings….
As you can see Chris we are all very passionate about our freindships and of our game rooms that we play in…. Not only do we have a great time we also have an outlet to vent and relieve our daily frustrations…
You, Well i hope you have read all 84 comments; and are now figuring out how to comply to the wishes of all parties…You have a tough job ahead…
But 84 people cant be just blowing smoke up your ass about all this stuff…This is real, wether you want to believe it or not….
Some are even speculating that you have planted these people int he rooms to cause havoc…. I personally dont agree with that idea, but who knows….
Only you can clarify, the speculations…..If these are paid employess causing all the hatred, and that is your intention then you have done a great job of it……But, it has only made our family stronger….
I do believe it is time that you step forward, and acknowledge if you even read what we are saying to you….and if you are…. Are you listening???? Or do you even give a shit about how we feel….
Yes, I have used a few cuss words in this blog, but these are everyday words in most households….and to me they are not offensive….
I think its time for a reply from you…..Cause personally I dont think you care enough about this site to make any practical and logical changes, to make all involved happy…..

I understand Yahoo has adult chat rooms that are completely uncenored and unfettered. Maybe a couple of us should check a couple out and all us meet there. Since Gamesville depends on its sponsers for revenue, how would it be if we all boycotted KC for one day, say election day, and see what the sponsors think about no viewers at all. Maybe that is it!!, maybe if everyone becomes a dues paying gold member they will leave us all alone. Money talks here. More, evidentally loundly than for our elected officials.

Dear nanaonce, 1blackdragon, and everyone else who has shared their thoughts with us on this topic:
Thank you very much for your feedback. Hearing your thoughts is important to us, and helps shape the products and services we offer.
I wanted to take a moment tonight to respond to some of the claims made here, and set the record straight on Gamesville policies in and out of chat.
As our community manager, ohryankelley, has pointed out, we do not enjoy banning members and terminating their accounts, and only do so when we are given no other choice. There have been some particular problems in Kansas City recently. The bulk of the feedback in this particular post relates to Kansas City so I'll address those claims specifically as they relate to Kansas City.
Does this mean you will agree with whether or not a specific user is banned? Sometimes you will, sometimes you may not. From your perspective, you might see a million reasons for someone to be banned or a million reasons for them to not be banned. After all, you've never seen that player say one bad word–so they must be OK, right? Wrong.
Customer service has special tools that enable them to see everything that every player has said in a chat. During an abuse investigation, customer service uses these tools to see what a player has said and can see what might have caused that player to react the way they did. In other words, our customer service team has insights that you do not have because they can see it all.
Sometimes, an abuse ticket on one player can lead to nobody being banned because the evidence does not support that action. Sometimes, it can lead to multiple accounts being banned because multiple accounts were involved with vioating our terms of service.
That’s it. Simple as that.
Is Gamesville an 18+ site? Yes. Does that mean you have unlimited free speech here? No. Just like in real life, free speech is not unlimited.
The United States Supreme Court, for example, has never interpreted the First Amendment to guarantee free speech as absolute; in fact, under certain circumstances speech may be restricted to avoid a clear, present and imminent danger.
At Gamesville, you're free to express yourself in chat but you must also be sensitive to, and respect, the rights of all. Whether or not you, in particular, are not offended by certain curse words is not relevant. If you can’t say it on NBC at 8PM–don’t type it. In our community, swearing isn't allowed–so don't do it.
Also: Please don't use substitute terms or use spaces, underscores, hyphens, or periods to circumvent the chat filter. This only proves that you are aware that the language you are using is not appropriate in chat, and will not help your case if you're ever reported for chat abuse.
In a recent confrontation in Kansas City, only one person was reported for abuse but the chat records revealed multiple people, on both sides of the confrontation, were acting inappropriately so all parties were issued a warning and given the chance to learn from their mistakes, change their chat habits, and contribute in a positive way to our Gamesville community. Some people did and were fine, others didn’t and were banned the next time they were reported for disrupting the chat.
We appreciate your passion on this topic, and understand that there are some bruised feelings out there. We also are sympathetic toward folks who feel like their families are being torn apart by the current situation. My best advice to you is to adhere to the rules of our community, and make sure your friends follow those rules, too.
Our rules are simple, and are not going to change. Accounts are ONLY blocked after thorough research and documentation of the account holder's violation of our Terms of Service. Accounts that have been banned will not be unbanned. Accounts will not be unbanned by appealling to us or by having others plead your case to us on your behalf. If you dislike our rules and want to find a new community at another gaming site or chat hangout, we hate to lose you but we also want you to be happy and wish you the best at your new destination.
For the majority of players who can abide by our simple rules and are ready for some more fun and excitement, we have a terrific lineup of new games and new features coming over the next several months, and we can’t wait to share them with you. Keep your eyes on the blog for details.
Sincerely,
Chris Cummings
Manager, Gamesville.com

I want to thank you Chris for finally making a response to our comments….However, you failed to address the entire situation…..We have made several suggetions and yet you have (refused?) not mentioned them in your response….Are you even considering the possibility of some changes that will make all parties happy???
From what i read, you have no intention of changing anything…Am i reading this correctly??
what is wrong with the possibility of having adult rooms like your brother site pogo has??? You may even get more revenue from it..
Please let us know where you stand on possible changes……..
Comment by dev-is-bk — November 5, 2008 @ 2:39 am
I agree with Dev. You sound like a politician, you skipped over the issues. You made no sense, and you felt the need to tell us what we saw and how we saw it. I know what I saw and how it went. Please don't tell me how it went. I was there when it was going on.
You feel that with that response that things are OK. Let me tell you I didn't like your response, and that it upset me more than then the abuse that is going on in here. You feel that you have stopped the abuse and you have not, and if we don't like what has happen then we can go somewhere else to play. I don't feel like that is a good business decision.
You have made the tension in these rooms worse then they were. People are afraid to speak now,and if they do they have to weight every word that is spoken. People are getting upset more now then before this is not good. I don't like that people come into the room to watch us now either. I'm grown and haven't need a babysitter in a long time. I also know that you could care less with what I have said, but I sure feel better saying it.
Comment by grannycarol2 — November 5, 2008 @ 9:44 am
Dev-is-bk: As I mentioned, we are listening to everyone's feedback, as always, and will incorporate that feedback into decisions we make about future changes to the site. However, you should know, there are no immediate plans to make any changes to the structure or functionality of our game rooms. We may change them in the future, but have no plans to do so currently.
Grannycarol: I'm sympathetic to what you're saying–but the much greater issue for us is people who refuse to be responsible members of the Gamesville community. Essentially, all we've ever "demanded" of people is to be friendly, and to respect others in the room. Anyone who cannot do that simply has no place at Gamesville, and this is a business decision that will not be reversed.
Comment by gamesville — November 5, 2008 @ 2:27 pm
If all you demand is that we be friendly and not abusive towards others I can comply with that. I hope that means that you might ease up a bit and I appreciate your responding.
Comment by tclillypad — November 5, 2008 @ 3:10 pm
But with the above being said….I STILL MISS MY FRIENDS!
Comment by tclillypad — November 5, 2008 @ 3:21 pm
You answer no questions in your post. Why are some people getting warned about being removed and others being removed mid game? Are you trying to push people away from gamesville? By the way may i have your address gamesville? Do you not understand that you are discriminating against people? I know several who have sent messages requesting a reason for being banned, and i know not a one got an answer. You are all on a power trip and Your sponsors have been notified and will continually be notified daily. You and your site will lose a lot of income im afraid because you don't respect the fact that we're adults, and you don't respect the fact that theres people on here that hold personal vendettas against people and use your chat abuse to get them out. I highly doubt you do an investigation into anything if you did you'd have absolutely no problem showing proof as to what happened.

Thank you for your response to all of our blogs – you said we can only use words that are safe enough to be used on NBC at 8PM – well I have watched tv at 8pm at nite and have heard words like "hell" "damn" -"ass" etc., but you find it offensive if we use it in a gameroom – If its ok to be used on national tv why cant we use these same words while we play our games as long as we dont use them in a wrong text like calling someone a derogratory name……
Thank you
Comment by sweetmamma7 — November 5, 2008 @ 11:32 pm
you know if gamesville is not willing to have an uncesored room, then why i have an age limit to over 18.s only,if we as player are not even aloud to say ass?
Comment by donnalawson1 — November 6, 2008 @ 9:50 am
sweetmamma7 – I was just using NBC at 8PM as a shortcut for keeping it clean–sorry for any confusion. We care about the quality of the discourse at Gamesville, and think that adults should be able to carry on a conversation in a chat room without being crass. Think of it this way: If a contestant on a televised game show started to swear, do you really think those words would be allowed to air? Or would they be bleeped out?
Comment by gamesville — November 6, 2008 @ 4:22 pm
Chris….glad to see ya answering peoples issues..now maybe ya can help with mine..would you please tell me exactly why i got a warning from gamesville, meaning what exactly did i say that was wrong..thank you…….Tamislc
Hello tamisablan,
A staff member has replied to your question:
We are contacting you in light of chat abuse happening in Magic 21 Jackpot Kansas City that has persisted.
We take chat abuse very seriously here at Gamesville and are always looking to provide a clean and hospitable
environment for members to enjoy our games. You are being given the opportunity to change your chat habits and
contribute in a positive way to our Gamesville community.
The following will not be tolerated in chat and will result in being banned from Gamesville, as stated in our Terms of Service:
• Do not abuse, harass, or threaten other players.
This has no place in Gamesville.
• Do not use language that is obscene, defamatory, offensive, obscene, vulgar, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.
This includes using terms such as azz, arz, chit. This qualifies as offensive and objectionable. Everyone in the room knows exactly what your
intent is which is no different completely typing the intended word. Using spaces or _ or – or . to avoid the abuse filter only proves that you
are aware the language you are using is not appropriate in chat.
• Do not post adult-oriented content.
Although members must be 18 to play on Gamesville any adult-oriented content qualifies as obscene, defamatory, offensive, obscene,
vulgar, hateful, or otherwise objectionable.
Please also note:
The appropriate way to report chat is through the abuse tool not through phone calls to Chris Cummings
Chris is busy overseeing all of the fun content and improvements we are working on here at Gamesville.
Taking up his time only delays any future plans for Gamesville.
For further details on reporting abuse please see the following link
http://www.blog.gamesville.com/index.blog/1709724/how-to-handle-abusive-chatters/
Members who we determine have failed to follow our Terms of Service, for any reason, even in the defense of other members,
will find their Gamesville membership terminated. Members do not have to be reported to be blocked. If we are in our chat logs
researching complaints and see a member violating our Terms of Service they will be blocked. Simply creating a new username does not
allow a member to return to Gamesville. Members who have proven to be repeat offenders or show gross neglect of our Terms of Service
will be continuously banned.
Members who have been banned will not be unbanned.
Members are block after thorough research and documentation of their violation of our Terms of Service.
Members are not unblocked after they "plead their case" because they would not have been blocked in the first place if they
did not violate TOS.
We do not enjoy blocking members and only do so when we are given no other choice. Please accept this opportunity to
be a valued member of Gamesville and contribute to the fun on Gamesville. After all that is what we all want; please have fun.

I believe that Gamesville needs to do something about bullies, etc but when Gamesville bans a player or a group of players based on the complaint of one player who in fact is culpable for the problem in the first place but "tattles" first as a means of being vindictive is unjust. I find this treatment of players abusive by Lycos and Gamesville — guilty without a trial goes against all human rights. In fact you could even say this is a form of discrimination. You need to reconsider how you handle abuse and require screen shots of the entire conversation in which to substantiate the player's complaint. If there isn't any documentation to backup the complaint then the player should not be allowed to have another player banned.

well chris, you say an 18 and over site huh? not true. people make accounts and then let their children play. scarlover0 has already told us she plays under her mother's account. how do we address this? 18 and over. that's why i joined with you. why not make a site so these kids can talk amongst themselves? it protects these children from possible dangers and protects us in return. something to think about.
