Leslie Nielsen, best known as the bumbling detective Frank Drebin in “The Naked Gun” films, passed away yesterday due to complications from pneumonia. He was 84.

As people who follow me on Twitter and elsewhere know, I have a great fondness for Leslie Nielsen — to the point I even recently re-read his fake autobiography.
Roger Ebert has a very detailed obituary, including many interesting and sad facts about his earlier years.
