First Day PAX Report!

PAX!Hey everyone!

So I’m currently in Seattle attending the Penny-Arcade Expo, one of the largest gaming and entertainment conventions in the country that all started as a fan-run get together. It’s grown so huge in the past few years that it’s now maxing out the Washington Convention Center in Seattle, WA (75,000 attendees) and is a hub of new information for all sorts of electronic gaming. Companies from all over use PAX (as it’s called) to announce new games, features, and to demo their products for the first time ever.

This year I am going as an attendee and not in any official Gamesville capacity and also as an Omeganaut – one of 20 randomly selected individuals who play in a giant, single-elimination, 5-round tournament to win an all-expenses paid trip to the Tokyo Game Show. Unfortunately I got knocked out in the first round on a game called Zombie Dice (a totally random, chance-based game as I’m sure you’re all familiar with), but that’s okay! To have had the opportunity was more than worth it.

Fallout: New Vegas

In addition to all this fun there are many panels for those interested in breaking into the gaming industry as well as tips, stories, and history from those already in it. PAX is a great place to have fun, to see new games, and to learn!

I’ll try and take some more pictures and bring you more details as the convention (which ends Sunday) continues!
